Can you help me pls? - wedding research (no advertising, promise!!)

NewMrsR, 28 October, 2009 at 16:49 Posted on Planning 0 11

I wonder if you lovely Hitchers would be able to help with a bit of research for my company.

What type of wedding jewellery are you after/bought for yourself and bridesmaids - pearl, crystal etc etc. Any brides going for yellow gold over silver/white gold?

How much would you roughly or ideally want to spend on your jewellery?

How many of you are wearing tiaras, hair combs or hair pins (or bridesmaids)? How much would you budget for on your hair accesories?

Any other info, such as colour schemes etc etc. How many of you are going for a wedding dress other than white?

Thank you so much. Any help is much appreciated!!

I'm only in the very early stages of planning but I do know for my jewellery I want it to be made in a precious metal, I definately don't want plated for myself or bridesmaids, I want to be able to pass the jewellery on to my daughter for her to wear on her wedding day hopefully so want something that wll stay in good condition for years to come.

At the moment I am swaying more towards a hair vine for myself and hair pins for the bridesmaids.

My colour scheme is Cadburys Purple

My necklace is a hinged choker with a calla lily at one end with a purple pearl in the middle with matching earrings. I'm wearing a headband (like an alice band) with feathers on one side.

Bridesmaids, I made them myself using Swarovski crystals & my novice jewellery making skills.

I'm wearing an ivory dress & my bridesmaids are in dark purple.

    Bon soir!

I'm going for a pearl necklace (large chunky pearls) with a large satin bow - although yet to find this necklace I have in my mind's eye! Willing to spend as much as I need on this. My dress is ivory silk.

Also going for a vintage looking hair accessory in silver and diamanté like this: /products/bouquet-of-dreams-hair-clip

For the BMs I'm probably going to give them one strand pearl necklaces with pearl studs. (Will prolly be cheap as chips from t'internet) as they are wearing black prom style dresses with ivory sashes.

I have a 50s theme and my colour scheme is black and ivory. HTH!

I can tell you what I did 3 years ago if that helps?

What type of wedding jewellery are you after/bought for yourself and bridesmaids - pearl, crystal etc etc. Any brides going for yellow gold over silver/white gold?
I just had a venetian glass and gold leaf heart on a gold chain. So I went for yellow gold. I've never seen another bride with yellow gold though. I also am an image consultant and see a lot of people and we discuss what colour jewellery suits them. I would say of recently married or enagaged people more than 95% have white gold rings and I'm guessing most would want to match to this?

My bms just wore what they wanted, but it was silver.

How much would you roughly or ideally want to spend on your jewellery?

How many of you are wearing tiaras, hair combs or hair pins (or bridesmaids)? How much would you budget for on your hair accesories?

It was an area I budgetted on - £30 for necklace, same for tiara which I made in the end, along with a crystal tiara. Both of therse were gold wire and yellow/clear crystals.

Any other info, such as colour schemes etc etc. How many of you are going for a wedding dress other than white?

Colour scheme was purple, my dress was very creamy (but basically bridal white type of thing!)

Thank you all so far! Excellent help.

Wow, purple is a popular colour scheme! It's a lovely choice, I also nearly went for deep purple myself. Ended up going with deep red (winter wedding).

    Anymore info would be great.

What type of wedding jewellery are you after/bought for yourself and bridesmaids - pearl, crystal etc etc. Any brides going for yellow gold over silver/white gold?

    >>>>> I'm either wearing some pearls belonging to a Grandparent (something old) or my faithful Tiffanys necklace. I'll wer my watch (can't not wear a watch), earrings probably some OH bought me years ago and bracelet will be one my best mate gave me last year as my bridesmaid gift

How much would you roughly or ideally want to spend on your jewellery?

    >>>>> As little as possible - don't see the need to buy anything new.

    >>>>> I think i'm going to wear a tiara but am borrowing this from my best mate (something borrowed) - can't justify the £80 price tag. Other than that - i thought of a fresh flower. May buy something small for the bridesmaids or else a fresh flower for them too.

Any other info, such as colour schemes etc etc. How many of you are going for a wedding dress other than white?

I think I'm going to go for yellow gold jewellery (just to be different?) My engagement ring is both white and yellow gold. I'm hoping H2B will buy me something nice!

Not thought yet about hair accessories, my hair is quite short so not sure what would work.

Not got the dress yet, but H2B's not too keen on white - says I'm too old! We'll see!

Hi, I'm going for a silver and diamonte tiara in the shape of snowflakes (winter wedding) necklace and earings are my something borrowed from my big sis. Big Bms are having silver hair combs with diamontes on ends and little ones i want to get diamonte and silver headbands.

My tiara has cost £60 although it hasnt arrived yet, the haircombs came in at £10 for both and i havent got the headbands as yet.

The colour scheme is Midnight blue and my dress is Ivory with midnight blue detailing on. My engagement ring however is yellow gold and so is my wedding ring (although you cant really see the gold as its covered in tiny diamonds)

My jewellery was mainly white gold or silver with diamonds and I probably spent around £150.

I wore a diamante headband, which set me back about £250.

My budget for the above was probably quite high but I was keen to match things in with the diamante detail on my dress and I knew that I wanted something really different and special for my headwear so was prepared to pay more for what I wanted. It all fitted in with the the 'look' I was after.

I didn't have any bridesmaids but our colour scheme was burgundy with flashes of burnt orange.

    HTH.

I've just bought my jewellery so I can help with this one.

I have a pearl and gold swarz crystals on wire (handmade), same earings, bracelet that H2B gave me for my 18th. As for BMs, prob going to get them a similar necklace to mine from the same company just in pearl and hot pink stones. Got hair comb from same company

Cost: Necklace £35, earings £9.50, hair comb £65

Colour Scheme: Hot pink. Hot pink, yellows and oranges for flowers. Dress is ivory with gold detail.
