Candle centrepiece ideas please!

KateyP, 28 July, 2011 at 14:27 Posted on Planning 0 13

Me again! Does anyone have any nice ideas for a centrepiece of candles? I'm a winter bride so think this could look quite effective and atmospheric if I get it right....

gracias x

Big ivory pillar candles (in threes) intertwined with ivy and holly with berries?

IMHO naked flames at a party of any kind is asking for trouble - someone will always manage to set something on fire (my niece managed to set fire to a napkin once - meaning I had to stomp it out melting my tights in the process!)

I'd go for enclosed flames, such as hurricane lamps or tea-light cages.

We are having tea lights in these .... they are only small (about 13cm high) so there will be 3 per table. There will be lots of kids at our wedding so we didn't want open flames.

We're having candle centrepieces. 5 big pillar candles grouped together with tealights scattered around in votives.

Not sure when / where you are getting married but I have a few of the big pillar candles for sale as bought too many.

I personally think that the candles would need to be in some sort of holder, eg a hurricane vase on the table as I would be worried that they might set fire to something - I'm exceptionally clumsy and managed to burn a hole in my menu at a restaurant the other week without realising due to the tealight on the table!

I went to view my venue again today and it was all set up for a wedding later and they had candels that were just your basic traditonal candel sticks in holders the holder had room for 5 candels 4 round the side and 1 in the middle it was really tall so no one could set fire or burn things it was simple but looked really affective

We are having a mercury glass candlestick (below) . With 3 smallvases of flowers around the base, intersperced with smaller votives some with candles some with flower heads. Bit difficult to describe really.

I had these for my wedding in February. Simple but effective. Popped them on mirror plates then dotted some tea lights around them. No tealights on the kids table though. Had mini hurricane lamps that went along the top table.

I'm having cylinder vases in roses submerged under the water and a floating candle on top on a round mirror and tealight and extra rose petals Smiley smile

I can't post pics of it. I've clicked on the "tree" pic but nothing happens Smiley sad
