My BIL has upgraded his DSLR camera and is selling his old one, and 350d with 18 - 55 lens for £90, is that a bargain?

Why not search ebay and check yourself?

There are indeed but I don't know if they'll be that 'up' on the secondhand value of them.

It sounds quite good to me if you're learning* - go for it!

*bearing in mind I have no clue about their second-hand value

To be honest hitched was my first port of call as I know there are a lot of people who are knowledgeable about such things, and I value and trust that knowledge....

I would grab it. It isn't a bad camera although the lens may be a bit on the slow side. For £90 its worth the venture in to dslr photography.

Do you mean, he has a buyer already that he is selling to at £90? Because I'd say that's a good enough price that if he's looking for a buyer, I would volunteer myself! (seriously) Sounds like a 'mate's rate' price to me.

He's selling it to me, I think you're probably right about mates rates though. It's got a few other bits and pieces with it too. I'm really pleased about it, totally out of the blue aswell.

That's nice of him! Hope you enjoy it. It's a popular camera (along with the newer 400D) on Hitched Photo-a-Day, so you'll get plenty of tips there if you want them.

You should consider HPAD, it's a great way to help you get the most out of your new toy!
