Can't believe it!

pips123, 3 June, 2009 at 09:32 Posted on Planning 0 17

Just sat down to write my evening invitations (which are already a bit late - wedding is on 1st August), and realised my lovely, smart, expensive invitations haven't got the date on them! ? OH and I carefully checked the proofs for spelling mistakes ages ago, okayed them for printing, and I've only just noticed now. I'll have to ruin them by writing the date on. Can't believe I have been such an idiot! ?

Oh god, that's so typical! I'm convinced I'll do something like that.

It could be worse though, at least there's not some hideous spelling mistake that everyone would notice ?

    Oh heck ...

Thats poor show by your stationer - I'd have mentioned that as a little "did you realise ...." I always check out odditities on wording - sometimes its exactly what the client wants, but sometimes they're "omg - thank you for pointing that out... " Sadly not much you could do as you signed off the proofs but ... shoddy customer service on their part!

not knowing what sort of invitations you have, could you reprint the invite info card? Or is it not posible to easily replace/cover over? Just a thought ....

Thanks, but no, I think they're doomed to having my scrawl all over them! Never mind. The information card was done for day guests with directions between church and reception, gift list, things like that, none of which is relevant for the night guests. Think I'll just have to try even harder to write reeealllly neatly! They were so beautiful before...

? I'm 1st August aswell, and daytime invitations went out a couple of weeks ago, 'my' evening ones went out then too, but OH only told me the names of the people he would like to invite last night! Argh! So sorry that your date wasn't picked up, but they will be fab and don't let a little thing like this get you down! If you are like me, you still have heaps to do! Chill out, I'm sure they look great.

    Oh dear!

Can you print a sticker and stick it to the back of the envelope? Saying "we will be getting married on 01/08/09"

(I'm with BW, it's upsetting for you, but is quite humourous!)

Could you print the date onto some transparent labels and stick it on? Just a thought.

My designs for the text didn't have the date on for aaaaaages... then OH pointed it out... glad he spotted it!

Wow everybody, your suggestions are all ace! Thanks for those. I got over my initial despair, and just started writing them. I don't think they look too bad, and unless people think about why it's written on, they *might* not even realise! Maybe.

I have to agree with BW and OLL though, it is a bit funny! And if it was a spelling mistake I couldn't use them at all, at least this was just an omission! If I had more time I would have definitely gone down one of the sticker routes though.

    My poor, beautiful invitations ?

Oh no! I guess you do have to see the funny side of it but I think deep down I'd be heartbroken lol. I remember when we received ours I read them and re-read them and re-read them!

Oh no that's a shame. There may be a way to savage them though - someone earlier suggested stickers which is a good idea but what about make a little extra decorative feature of it instead such as a little tag with your names and date on and tie them up with a length of ribbon?

Those are lovely! Thank you for that, but don't worry, they needed to go out so I just wrote on them! Hey ho!

Ooo, but while you're here, I went to order one of your post boxes yesterday and saw on your website you're booked up til September! I should've seen it coming actually, knowing you were so busy at the start of the year when I first emailed you. That'll teach me to leave things!

I'm sorry, I don't have one of the invitation itself, and haven't set up my camera to talk to this computer. I'll show you the photo we incorporated though!

That's great Pip! How lucky was that to find?!

I'm so sorry I can't help with a post box, all my current box stock and new stock on order is all spoken for at the moment, I'm afraid. Have you tried Zoe at www.bunnydelicious.com, Julie at www.carolmillerdesigns.co.uk or Sarah at www.invitationsbysarahjane.co.uk - they do lovely post boxes (not sure of their current availability though)?
