That's awful, i'm so sorry to hear this! When were you due to get married? Couldn't you get married in the registry office instead if the registrar is already booked?? There might be a function hall that you can get for free or for a small fee due to guests buying there alcohol? I know this probably isn't what you want to hear but things happen for a reason x

    So so sorry, big hugs.

Did you pay by credit card? Is there some protection this way?

    What venue is it?

Oh my goodness, how awful!! I'm so sorry :-( Don't panic just yet. Contact the registrar and see what can be done about having the ceremony elsewhere, then ring round some venues for the reception and tell them what's happened, see if you can get some help on a sympathetic basis. Definitely check with your card companies and banks to see if you're covered at all there too.

Big big big hugs. And I'm sure if there's anything we hitchers can do to help, we will. xxxxx

I was just abOut to respond with some sympathetic words

Although this could easily happen so would advise those that don't have insurance to look at getting a quote

This has actually happened in our area very recently with one of the venues we were originally looking at, and one of my colleagues has been affected.

Luckily, she has got insurance and had 13/14 weeks to find somewhere else, but one poor couple were due to get married the day after the liquidation was announced.

The guy that owns the place really needs a good slapping as he was sailing far too close to the wind to start with and operating without some of the necessary licenses (from what the local press are saying). The venue didn't even ring my colleague to tell her there were problems.....let alone to tell her that they were going bump. She had to hear it from her registrar.?

OH NO! I am so sorry. Which venue is it? Not Caverswall Castle is it (I ask as my SIL was having her wedding there and they have recently gone into liquidation).

Did you pay for anything on credit card? If so you can prob get your money back.

Failing that, contact your local paper. They will prob run a story on you and maybe some local business will help you out (a venue may help you at a reduced cost).

If it was a package, you may still be able to use the caterer and other suppliers?

I am sorry for you hon (hugs)

    Bingo!!!!!!

She's got it all sorted now and has found a much nicer place somewhere a few miles away.

We never booked here in the end (luckily!) as another of our friends was also looking at it and I was having a bridezilla moment about being unoriginal and getting married at the same place as everyone else!!! Who was it that said being a bridezilla was a bad thing?!?

Hang on, I do hope we are not talking about the same bride. That would be embarrassing. I would hate for my SIL to know I have been talking about her behind her back.

It was a joke, in poor taste? I don't think so,

if it made people think about getting insurance then that can't be bad! Take it in the spirit in which it was meant! I did thank everyone for being lovely to me and sorry for anyone it offended, it was not my intention, but to clarify, whilst I didn't want to upset anyone, I don't apologise for doing an April's fool joke.
