Can't Believe I've Bought My Dress!!!

Peppr Potts, 11 February, 2012 at 11:40 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hello!

I've been hanging around here looking at the various posts and tips/advice for a while now but haven't felt able to post anything myself until now as my Wedding is still quite far away and we haven't really had anything planned...

We got engaged January 2011 but because of money and various other things we haven't really been able to do much until now.... We've now set the date and have the Venue we think we want, although we haven't booked it yet, and yesterday i bought my dress!!! I totally didn't mean to! I went to meet my friend at Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent and there happened to be a Wedding Fayre going on so we decided we may as well go and have a little look around.... had a look at some of the dresses they had, tried 2 on and ended up buying one! It was an ex-sample so a lot cheaper than i would have got otherwise....

I'm still in total shock and a little scared! I'm worried i was swayed too much by the cheap price and that because it's so long until my Wedding i might go off it or see something i like more, plus i already had the dress i wanted in my mind and it's not the one i bought yesterday... i really hope i haven't made a mistake!

Congratulations, that's so exciting! Since it was a sample, I wouldn't worry too much about later regrets, if you do end up changing your mind, you could always sell it on preloved or on here. Just be happy!

Wear your dress to do the washing up??? hehe i love friends.

Ah glad i'm not the only crazy person then! Because it's a bit different to the one i had in my head as "the dress" i'm just a bit worried i won't like it on the day, my friend said it looked lovely though and i sent a picture to my mum and she said the same so hopefully it will be ok! And its a big saving so thats good!

Good luck with your planning! Have you got much else sorted yet?

Congrats! Buying the dress it one of the best parts! And, ends up creating lots of anxiety Smiley smile I was so worried I'd chosen the wrong one but now, two months to go and I absolutely love it! One of the worst things you can do is to keep looking at dresses. I've had to force myself to stop even though I love looking at them. Just focus on everything else and know you chose it because you loved it!

Thank you! I am trying to stop myself looking, i can't help sneakily comparing the one i've bought with the one i thought i was going to buy though! And having it hanging in my wardrobe isn't helping as a)i keep wanting to put it on and b)H2B and i share a wardrobe!

I'm so glad i'm not the only person crazy enough to buy the dress on a spur of the moment thing! Totally surprised myself as i'm really not a spur of the moment type of person normally!

My feelings EXACTLY!!! My dress buying experience was almost identical to yours and I keep having wobbles about it. HOWEVER I keep reminding myself that it's beautiful and a reasonable price and once I have my hair and make done, am surrounded by my friends and family, walk down the aisle to marry the man I love...I wouldn't care if I was wearing a binbag! Stick with it girl!

Thank you for the encouragement Mrs D! I really am awful, i'm one of those people that just has no confidence in my own decisions, i constantly need people to reassure me i'm doing the right thing, its a very annoying trait and i annoy even myself with it! Life really would be a lot easier if i had a personal assistant or something who just made all my decisions for me! Smiley smile

Pandora - it's Sara by Maggie Sottero, it was discontinued last year so won't come up on the Maggie website but if you put it into google images it brings photos up... i have got some photos of me in it on my phone but me and H2B share a computer so don't really want to risk uploading the pics onto here, god knows how i'm going to hide it from him for a year and a half anyway!

Thank you for all the support and reassurances ladies! Happy planning to all!

I ordered my dress with about 16 months to go...I've had the occassional wobble but I do still love it now.

    Congrats on setting the date!

I bought my dress ages before my wedding (I was a May 09 bride) and although I had wobbles I knew I had made the right decision. It was by Maggie S's sister company Raylia and it was also sparkly so good choice. x

We're having a Civil Ceremony in the same Hotel as the reception. We haven't booked it yet, i'm in the middle of exchanging emails with the wedding planner regarding price etc. We might not be booking it for a while though as we live in Kent but the venue is in Hereford so we might wait until we can go and see it again, we have seen it once before but that was last year and person showing us round wasn't very helpful, the new wedding planner has been really helpful so far though so its looking good!

Thank you all, i feel a lot better now!
