Hello I photographed a wedding at Sunbeam studios in notting hill last year and they had a budget wedding. Its actually a photo and film studios but they venue hire as well. The wedding was beautiful with a country garden theme and they had a bbq instead of a wedding breakfast its really bright and has a fantastic staircase and balcony that runs down one side plus private out door small but pretty garden.

    here a picture

and you can view the rest of the wedding here http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.215591381806927.66113.172063069493092&type=3

it was one of the best budget weddings I have been too!

Have you only looked online? Have you seen any in person? If you've only been looking online, definitely pick a few good options and go see them. Anytime I showed my OH venues online he glazed over or nitpicked things in the photos. I was shocked when we went to see my favourite and he turned into a giddy school girl! Plus - it's so hard to know with some of them until you go and see them for real. Sometimes there are other options you don't think about just from looking at their website. There was one I didn't go see because I was afraid I'd fall in love with it and it was way out of our budget... I visited it not long ago with friends and was so glad I didn't bother because I didn't like it at all.

Maybe you should also look at alternative venues like a boat or a theatre... are there any hobbies or interests you could play off of?

How big of a wedding are you having and what is your style? Those are two big factors that will make a difference.

Well im looking at ones which arnt too far from where we live and is central and easy for people to get too. we have seen the pembroke lodge in richmond park but well over budget and a bit to structured on times etc. we're viewing the grange tomorrow in wallington and maybe the antoinette hotel in wimbledon for the reception on sunday. i like the the bank of england sports ground as it has a lovely maquee but h2b says it looks crap lol but you make a good point that it may look very dofferent in real life so im gonna make him look just incase!

the sort of wedding we wants is a relaxed one a lovely ceremony then a good old party afterwards no speeches no sit down meal just a lovely buffet and good music!

Try Winchester House in Putney if you're in that neck of the woods!

We've actually booked the Antoinette Hotel in Kingston upon Thames. Got a great last minute deal and they have been very helpful so far.

It's slightly outside SW London, but my venue is Nonsuch Mansion in Cheam (they have a description on here in the venues bit and some reviews too). So far I've met the girls in their organisation team a couple of times, and exchanged many an email, and they are lovely and supremely helpful. They seem very willing to accommodate pretty much any request that I can throw at them. Smiley smile

We also looked at Star and Garter in Putney - which was nice, but just a tad too far for us, as we are more Croydon area. My sister got married at Dulwich College which was fabulous, but it was about 6 years ago so I cannot comment on how it is now. And I also looked at Westminster Boating Base which is just a reception venue (you'd have to have the ceremony elsewhere), which was a great venue with lovely views, but I appreciate maybe too central for what you're after.

Have you got any idea of type of venue? pub? hotel? Numbers? Does it need to be licensed for civil ceremony?

It looks like the OP hasn't been active on the forum since August, I'm not sure you'll get an answer out of her, GraceCar...

Thank you for your reply. My friend got married at the Antoinette Hotel Kingston and absolutely loved it, so it seems you have picked a very good venue. Unfortunately its a bit too far out for me. Did you view The Grange? If so, what were your thoughts?

Hi there, thank you for your response. She did answer and is getting married in Kingston, which is a bit too far out of my area. What venue do you have? PS: What fun to be "Mrs Christmas", lol, x

I'm really open to suggestions, just want somewhere lovely, doesn't need to be licensed for civil ceremony as might have that covered, its just the reception I am struggling with. I have approximately 80 guests.
