Can't get motivated - anyone else feel the same?

Weather Girl, 19 April, 2009 at 09:18 Posted on Planning 0 4

I've got just over 5 months to go, which I'm sure is going to fly by, and still got loads to sort out but can't I motivate myself to do anything. I can sit and surf the net for ages getting ideas but that's as far as it's going.

I finally got myself to finish writing out the daytime invitations yesterday but I've still got the following to do:

1. Arrange appointment at suit hire shop to discuss what we want and then arrange for H2B, best man and ushers to go for fittings.

2. Decide on favours and then purchase.

3. Sort out make up.

4. Speak to florist to find out whether she has had any luck with finding fish bowls at a cheaper price to what we can hire them for and whether she has decided if she can get the flowers we want ?. This is starting to annoy me a little now and maybe that's why I can't bring myself to phone her.I'm also worried she's going to put too much red in my bouquet so need to clear that up.

5. Confirm with the chair cover hire people whether we'll be needing to hire the fish bowls or any other items - this depends on the florist!

6. Choose and buy wedding rings.

7. Confirm with registrar that the readings we like will be okay.

8. Decide on ceremony music and first dance song.

9. Pay off mini-moon.

10. Have meeting with venue to discuss things, including menu option.

11. Pay venue.

12. Have dress fittings.

13. Decide on headpiece and jewellery.

There's more but I won't bore everybody lol. I'm not sure whether it's just that there seems so much to do and it's a bit overwhelming or what really. I keep asking H2B to sit down with me and go over some bits and pieces but it never happens.

Anyone else feeling the same?

Yep. Me too! I've got just over 6 months to go - and although I keep thinking that everything's sorted, it isn't really. I can't really offer any advice really. I've got so much else going on that the wedding's really on the back burner. I'll just be glad when it's over really.

All I would suggest is that rather looking at that really scary list - concentrate on one thing at a time. Maybe set one task a week or something?

I don't know - I know how you feel though. I'm just a bit fed up with it and just want it to happen so that we can get on with our lives!

Oh I am totally feeling the same, only a few weeks left and feel like I should be doing stuff every day but am beginning to wish the day would just be here now I can marry OH and move on with our lives!

I couldn't even tell you what I have left to do as have been avoiding opening my s/sheets up all week - which is so not like me.

I think December just have a wedding free week then come back to it all fresh - don't burn out thinking about whats left to do. Then put the list in order and do one thing at a time.

Yep me too - i've just logged into Hitched to be told it's only SIXTY NINE DAYS left to go for me ? (s'cuse me while i SCREAM....................!!!!!)

I've actually just updated my "to do" list and it's still pretty long - i wont bore you with it - most of it is just the silly little stuff that i'm not really interested in at the moment! I've hardly done anything wedding-y for a week or two so i'd really better get myself motivated as the time is flying by and it'll be here before i know it. I feel the same as Cheska, just want the day to be here now as i'm a bit sick of all this planning - and i've only been planning since xmas so heaven knows how some of you manage to stay interested when planning for over a year, that would send me insane!! ?

    Yes completely ?

In fact I posted the exact same thing not so long ago. I'm also getting married in just over 5 months (October 10th),and can surf for hours without getting anything done!

The big stuff is done now, I'm waiting on H2B to finish the invites before we write them (he's a graphic designer),and the little bits like favours and table plans, and readings, I just cannot bring myself to get interested in.

Very much like the rest of you I think, just wish the day itself was here. I'm also very grumpy as I'm on weightwatchers and I'm hungry?

Thanks ladies, I'm so glad I'm not the only one feeling like this!

You're just after me rockclimbingtigger, we're the 2nd October. I know I shouldn't wish my time away but I too can't help thinking it'll be nice when the day is finally here lol.
