Hi there what sort of car are you wanting for your big day as prices vary considerably and also how many do you require as some car companies do deals if you book two of their cars ie. one for you and dad and one for your mum and bridesmaids! Two years ago now we paid £200 for a white rolls-royce silver shadow in white and we had it for about 2 hours in all! As our church is literally 5 mins up the road our car dropped off our bridesmaids then came back for me and my dad! Our venue then was 4.5 miles from our church. I wanted a horse and carriage to take me to church but OH said no as we'd spent enough and wasn't necessary!

I am considering not having a car because we wanted something classic - we were quoted 570 pounds for a 1936 Rolls Royce for 3 hours! I think it may be the London factor, but definitely not paying that much!! we only need it to go to and from the venue as everything is in one place (ceremony and reception) so it's not worth it... what prices have u been getting?

I have hired an old car for me and OH, but for my BMs I am actually using a taxi firm! They also hire 'prestige' vehicles - without the taxi company markings on. It will cost me about £45 for a new Mercedes for the journey to from church (although its not far between church and venue), and for about 2 hrs waiting time.

Maybe there are taxi co's in your area that do something similar?

So far I have been quoted between 500 and 750 for horse and carriage - to take me and dad to the church and bring H2B and me back to the venue (round trip of 8 miles) and 295 for the A-Team van for an hour to take H2B to the church with his boys!

We are on the essex/herts border

Love horse and carriages - they look wonderful and you get some great pics and it'll be something you will never forget. We filmed a bride at New Year with a pair and carriage and it was just spectacular she arrived at the meeting point in a Beauford (she came from Manchester but getting married in the Peak District) then changed to the carriage to take her to the church. From the church her and hubby had the carriage take them to the venue 4 miles away!

That seems like a fair price for a H & C given the distance travelled plus their expenses, wear and tear etc as when I was quoted 3 years ago I only wanted to go from home to the church and was quoted £350 and its only 10 mins walk up the road. Do you want to spend this much on transport (not a problem if budgeted for and I would truly recommend the H&C such a rarity these days and gorg to see). This is the only thing I wished I'd gone for despite OH as my dad offered to pay but OH thought it was a waste of money ☹️

We're having a vintage rolls royce convertible for £295 for 3 1/2 hrs

We're also having a vintage bus to take guest from the reception to the church and back for £295 and thats for as long as we need (prob about 4 hours).

We're getting married in June next year and thought the prices were not too bad esp for the vehicles we are getting

    Dear All,

Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is A Mueeth and i have the pleasure of being a professional from all angles with regards to car hire.

1 - Got married last year

2 - I run one of the North West's most popular wedding venues

3 - I am a proud owner of a fleet of wedding cars

I my professional opinion, stay away from Vintage cars. I used to offer my clients a Rolls Royce Silver Wraith and one day it broke down on the way to the wedding venue causing a massive delay and as the bride was already late starting off from her residence, we had to resort to getting her a taxi for her to make her grand entrance. Since then I have discontinued that car and i am still haunted by the fact that I had ruined her special day. No matter what they say about how well they have maintained the car, face it, the fear of it breaking down is ever present.

Get a Rolls Royce Phantom, it is classy, elegant, will turn heads and has got the WOW factor. You will arrive at your venue relaxed and feeling good. Furthermore, if it does breakdown, Rolls Royce themselves will dispatch an engineer to get to you in a matter of minutes because they cant afford to have the best car in the world to be seen broken down along the M6.

I don't know what car I'm having, I just know a car is provided and a mini bus for my guests. And to be honest I couldn't careless as long as i fit in it and it was on time!

I do think horse and carriages look pretty, but i've seen the brides dress get peed on by the horse too many times on you've been framed so it puts me off!
