CAR question - exec not wedding

brideseekingblush, 13 January, 2010 at 17:03 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hello Ladies,

Well there seem to have been a few car convos lately...my query is this - I'm not bothered about a vintage/wedding car - I just want something half decent that my dress'll fit in (venue is less than a mile from our hotel and ceremony/reception are both held there). Did you have an exec rather than a wedding car/will you? And does anyone know anyone decent for that in London?

I don't know about in London but we're hiring a Jaguar for about £175, that gets us as many trips as we need, we're also very local to the venue and church, so i didn't see the point in a really expensive car, i was quite happy to walk to the church in fact( we're VERY local!) but my family said i should get a car and paid for it wooo! Hope this helps.

Yeah that sounds good surfgirl thanks - I'm going to want it to take my gran and my bm's so one that could do a few trips would be ideal - but about the cheapest I've seen is £260

Most of the weddings I've done in London have white taxis as wedding cars and they're great for fitting big wedding dresses in! They start from about £240 though - whereabouts in London are you getting married?

Flipping heck! that's crazy - I would have thought it would work out at £500 just for the BM dresses....

or just for the venue decs....

    of just your head gear.

Poster above, I'm getting married in Greenwich - I saw the white wedding taxi and they quote £260 - which just seems crazy for a mile ride!

My business offers an Exec and a Supercar.

However, as I'm hundreds of miles from you I will try to help with any advice.

Our Jaguar can go out for as little as £120 if it's a local wedding where the return travel time is minimal, the further out the more it would cost within reason.

One thing to be careful of with car companies is that they offer or quote one price which would be their basic hire price. Many then add on extra charges such as fuel and can be as high as £2.50 per mile.

Many only operate within 10-miles from base and then charge extra for beyond that, and some companies I have seen charge £50 just for letting you take photos of the car/s.

Be sure to ask about mileage and time and standing time for photo's.

My top car is an Aston Martin V12 GT, in fact the only one like it in the world as it was painted with Ferrari paint, apart form the paint they only ever built 84 of them and some of these have been exported.

This Supercar has a start price of £299 with a 100 mile limit for a pickup/drop off with photo time.

For just under £500 the car would be available right up to the end of the night, so that guest's can indulge themselves in Ride Experiences etc.

Shop around and ask about those extra details, it's best to write out a list and then do a compare and find out which offers the best value for money.

    Hope this helps.

Does your company use a taxi firm that you might be able to ring and get a good rate?

Lots of taxi companies offer an "executive service" and offer nice big cars (mercs etc) with a smartly dresser driver. You should be able to get a decent rate from them if you agree a set price?
