Card Boxes

parma violets, 2 August, 2014 at 07:49 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi,

with a just over a week to go I still don't know what I want to put cards in. I have been looking for some sort of basket or box but have not found anything that has grabbed my eye or that is not too expensive. I was wondering if anyone would like to share theirs and maybe where they have got them from? Thanks x

I got a plain white box from ebay, used ribbon and a wooden sign to say "cards". It cost me next to nothing. After the wedding I can also use it as a keepsake box x

    I also made ours.

I had a box laying around, from the outside post box, cut a slot in the top, got some wrapping paper and glued the pattern side so the creamy white side was facing outwards, glossed it, then printed the wording I wanted, glued it to some purple backing card and added a purple now all around the top edge and had the not at the top in the middle then address a couple of butterflies matching our theme.

It cost me nothing as I had all the arts and crafts bits left from making the stationary.

We made ours left over from a piece of mdf and used the leftover wedding materials to do the rest. I painted it with Annie Sloan chalk paint and distressed it. I made the card sign (wooden hearts from the works for 99p (for 4)) and painted it with my colours. Need to add a couple more cream coloured roses to the top and then I'm done.

Go and have a look in your nearest charity shop or junk shop. I have a week to go too and went round mine yesterday - got a wicked old leather camera box. It's like a chest, with handles and a lock, with lovely pink lining inside! It really suits our retro wedding. She had all sorts of boxes, chests, suitcases in there. I would go and check it out.

TKMaxx are usually good for boxes and things. I saw a heart shaped wicker basket in Matalan which I might get for ours x

We got ours from ebay. Can't find a picture of it though but its a plain white box, with purple lid. Then just need to make a sign for it to say putting cards in there.
