Care to share your colour scheme?

4 January, 2011 at 19:40 Posted on Planning 0 56

I've started a new part of my blog and am looking for ideas for colour schemes. I've done a few already, but thought that with the wonderful diversity on Hitched, you ladies would be a great place to gather more inspiration!

So what colours are you having at your wedding? Not just the "main" colour, but all the little accents as well.

Actually, any themes as well that you want to share?

We are having Cream and gold with accents of diamonds. My dress is creamy silk with bling at top and on train. The Bridesmaids having cream prom dresses with gold ribbons and gold shoes. Flowers will be white and yellow roses bound in gold ribbon, with diamonds studded between. Invites are cream with gold writing, ribbons with diamonds stuck on. Having a tea party with scones, jam & cream, fairy cakes etc all crockery has gold rim. I could go on and on! LOL

Ours is jade green and ivory, with maybe a hint of silver. We're also having a bit of a hearts theme running through

ETA: You might classify jade as teal - I get so confused as they are very similar!

I was initially thinking dark blue, silver and some very pale pink with lots of stars.

I'm not really a pink person in general though, so now I'm wondering if maybe dark blue, silver and rainbow colours (or, lime green, orange, pink and yellow in particular) might be more me/my fiance! I'd still like to include some stars though, we though it would be fun to have a table plan based on planet names - real and fictional! A bit geeky (Star Trek/Star Wars would be involved) but quite us.

Well....as my dress is pink with a bit of turquoise and gold thrown in these are the colours I'm going for - though fushia rather than a paler pink and possibly some ivory thrown in instead of gold......decisions decisions

Snap! Are you have trouble finding stuff to match the dusky pink? I'm having a nightmare trying to find ribbon or material to match the Dulux colour card I found with a lovely shade (not posh enough for Pantone references!). Have tried everywhere I can think of but none do quite the duskiness I like - bit too pink or too purple. At this rate the green is going to take over :-(

On a related note, has anyone heard of the superstition that green at a wedding is unlucky or is that something I have just dreamed of randomly? No one else I ask seems to have heard of it.

I'm having red with silver and ivory highlights. My OH will be in a blue kilt, I'm having a red outfit, BMs will be in silver with red highlights, there'll be ivory flowers and feather highlights in bouquets. And of course there' be the obligatory sparkly flashes too!

    Here's my mood board:

Ivory, hunter green, silver, red, tartan and pearls. Not much of a theme really, a bit Scottish I guess!

A range of pinks, quite deep pinks rather that hot pinks and a hint of teal (really a hint - it's only my bridesmaids dresses that are teal, I couldn't find any pink material that I liked so went with teal I think it'll make a nice contrast to the pink flowers etc)

Im going for lots of old style glamour, lace, pearls, crystals, ivories, creams, whites, silvers and golds. Not so much a colour scheme, as a theme.

Saying that, we're not sure if my OH is wearing military uniform yet or not, so if he does may have to incorporate some of his colours in im not sure yet ?
