Carpet cleaners... any recommendations.

Puss, 19 July, 2009 at 21:30 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

I really need to clean my once cream now beige carpets ? (and then keep them clean with 2 small dirt magnets in the house) so was looking to buy a carpet cleaner. Am totally bemused by what is on the market so was wondering if anyone had a good one they can recommend.

Thanks!

I hired one when we moved house and it made a real difference to the carpets. Would that be an option? It was through HSS, but there are lots of tool hire companies

I can really recommend the Rug Doctor machine. It's easy to use, cleans really well, you don't have to go over the same area loads of times and it leaves the carpets drier than most machines.

The downside is to buy they are very expensive..around £500 I think.

But you can hire them from places like B&Q for £25 +£5 for detergent.

I have seen the hire ones. Problem is all my reddies are in Paypal so transferring funds to afford it is a pita. I also really wanted a hoover sized one so I could do it regularly without the faff of going to B&Q (who, from memory, are fairly unwilling to hire to me as I can't produce household bills with my name on it as Mr P pays all of them so they are in his name) every time I want to clean them (and it will be a fair amount knowing my children).
