!*#@$&£ Cars!!!!

MrsMeldrew, 21 August, 2013 at 11:43 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

Just had a phone call from the garage with my car repair bill - £630. That's £1000 in the past month. £300 finding out what wasn't wrong with it with an incompetent garage, £100 for a week's car hire and now this. I feel sick and could cry

That is utterly pants. When you mentioned you were having car trouble I didn't realise to this extent!

What an absolute arse. What's wrong with it?

Well it wasn't the camshaft position sensor or the fuel pump or the auxillary belt (£300 for this knowledge)

It was infact the timing chain which is a huge, engine out, job so therefore very expensive. They need to keep it another week to fit it in to be fixed so I'm car sharing with boy which in turn means my working day is now 10 hours Smiley sad I need wine and lots of it

I feel your pain - ours cost us shy of £750 last week :-( sooo annoying.

I hope you get it fixed and you can work it all out. Really annoying when you rely on cars for work too.

Have a big glass of wine tonight ?

I can sympathise as I have been there. You don't happen to have a Golf TSI do you?? I had trouble with the cam chain tensioners last year that resulted in a £3,500 bill ? The car wasn't even 5 years old.

It's a micra and apparently a common fault with the ones Nissan install and apparently they start to go at around 30k miles and mine as done 60k so in that respect it isn't bad. Worse thing is that because we don't have that sort of spare cash lying around we have had to borrow it from the in-laws Smiley sad

It's a common fault with this particular fandangled type of engine on the Golf too - if I'd known I'd wouldn't have touched it with a bargepole! When I picked mine up the garage said that it was the biggest invoice they'd ever written.

I hope that you get yours back soon as it is a real pain being without one!

Oh bugger! I hate cars for this reason. I've got a company car so don't have to worry but my H has a van and everytime it goes to the garage I sit crossing my fingers its alright. It cost us £650 in January so I'm hoping it'll pass it's MOT next month no problem ?
