Casual pub reception in London, August 2012

Hi all,

long time no post, but I finally have a reason to get back online. The man and I have decided to stay put and marry in London in August 2012, rather than try to accomodate families on two opposite coasts of Canada.

We'd like to marry between the close of the Olympics and the start of the Paralympics, to allow Canadian friends and family to find adequate hotel space.

We're looking for a nice London pub, probably North London, with an outdoor space. We want to do a casual pub do rather than a big, fluffy, serious wedding venue type thing.

However, we don't know our numbers yet, haven't sent out invites. Can you lot recommend a good pub for say 50 or so people?

    Just outside the M25 is my base, and there is a local foodie pub called "The Vine".

    This was providing free party venue hire (not exclusive thou..).

    There is a fairly large garden with seating, lots of parking and a Travel Inn about 1/2 mile away and a 2 Marriott Hotels in the area.

    In November, I provided a Disco for a Wedding celebration -the couple were married the week before overseas.

    Where in North London are you looking? Do you have a particular style of pub in mind?

    I'm thinking somewhere in the following areas: Islington, Highgate, Crouch End,. We want somewhere with a garden, as we hope the weather will be nice.

    There is a lovely pub with a garden, literally right across the street from Islington Registry Office.

    I forget the name, but I used to have a lot of after work drinks there a couple of years back.

    Thank you - I would LOVE to use this venue. However, we're really hoping not to spend more than £5,000 for the entire wedding, so I'm afraid we can't afford this. Would love to hear from someone who has married there..
