Cat People - Under the weather cat

Bowski, 12 August, 2009 at 16:20 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

My little ex stray seems off colour, she's been sneezing and generally wanting to sleep all the time (not that unusual, but not wanting cuddles which is unusual) She's getting up to eat and drink and go out (I'm guessing for the toilet) her ears don't feel warm and other than the odd sneeze and being a little bit sniffly she has no other symptoms.

Do you think it's worth taking her to the vets or just give her a few days to ride it out if it's a mild cold or possibly hayfever (she likes to play in a corn field near home and they've just been harvesting, Mr B's Hayfever is really bad at the moment so it could be that, she's still going out for a play at night I'm just not sure how long she's out).

I don't want to seem like an over protective cat mummy and take her to the vets if I don't need to as we've already taken her 4 times this year when we didn't need to (she had a broken pelvis before she came to us and it healed a tiny opening to the rectum so we used to worry about her getting constipated again).

TIA

I'd give her another couple of days it sounds like she's just a bit 'off'

You say that she is eating, are her poops ok...not squitty? You may have to skulk around your garden, perhaps try keeping her in for a couple of days.

If mine is ever like yours I usually get some bottled water and give her that as she seems to drink it rather than normal tap water which she'll just touch when she has to IYKWIM, and at least this keeps her fluids up.

If your puss is still off come friday then pop to the vets, it can't hurt to double check.

If she was still eating and no temperature, I'd be tempted to leave her be for a couple of days.

Tough to decide when to take them though!

If its just sneezing with no discharge from the nose or eyes i would just leave her for a bit. Both of mine have had cat flu (not that i'm saying thats what it is) and it only starts to become a problem when they get the secondary infections and you'll know when that happens ?

If she's still going out and eating/drinking ok i'd leave her to sort it out herself.

She's just gone out to play so she must be feeling a bit better, she had some dinner and a drink before she went out and 'Meh-ed' at me.

She's fully vacincated so hopefully it's just nothing, actually she's just come in purring and crying for me to pick her up and cuddle her so maybe she's turned the corner.

    Thanks guys.
