cat re-homing help!

SusieWong, 16 May, 2011 at 14:21 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 13

Hello you lovely lot! im hoping you could help me.... i got a cat from the local cat rescue 4months ago, shes a beautiful ginger and white female tht has been neauterd, anyway she is cleary not liking my 4yr old daughter she seems to be terrified of her, when its just us when daughter is in bed shes fine happy contented and purring but when daughter is about she kegs it and hides, so im guessing thees some trauma there previously hence being in the cat rescue

she needs to be in a "grown up" household, i have been trying to rehome her for a few weeks, but with no luck at all, and i havnt got the heart to send her back to the cat rescue, any tips?????

hope ur wedding planing is coming along fine.xx

Really!! im in walton on naze...bout 40min drive from u, her name is cookie, shes up to date with the frontline, shes uses the cat tray sometimes but usually only if i go to bed early and shes indoors for a long time, just for wee's tho,

shes very chatty will meow if u talk to her lol, probobly telling me to shut up! she's not really a lap cat, very rarely gets on sofa, thinks shes done it twice since having her, she much prefers laying on the bed for a stroke, oh and she drops and rolls at your feet all the time for a tummy rub,

aww let me know, what mr flow says.xx

we had two, but one got run over by a car (who subsiquently drove off leaving her there on the road!) and since then its been a bit like 'shall we?' but havnt taken the plunge and certainly dont want the hassle of training another kitten!!!

lets hope mr flow can be sweet talked ?

Dont want to put a dampener on things but is it ok for you to re-home the cat yourself, many rescue centres request (as part of the adoption agreement) that if you are no longer able to care for the animal it is then returned to them, i totally get where you are coming from though as the first foster dog we had went off to a home which fell through a week later and we said to the rescue centre that rather him going to them we would have him back with us it felt like it would have been a step backwards (infact this has happened twice not with the same dog though)

Flow ur gonna murder me but shes gone! im so sorry Asha's (my daughter) teacher rang and said she wants her.....im so sorry,

the bfg, yes its fine for me to rehome her, the rescue i got her from really isnt great, didnt do a homecheck, or even ask where i lived, house or flat etc, and they didnt tell me tht she wasnt good with children, no paperwork with her and no rules or anything, which is why i wanted to rehome her myself, didnt want her to go to another young family for her to not settle and keep being passed on,

flow, 75% of the cats there were all living together with other cats with no probs, the ones they were stroppy they seperated, so maybe a cat rescue might be a good place to go to find one tht gets along with others, im so sorry again.xxxx
