Our caterer came to meet us last night for the first time..He went through some of the options and also said he was very open to any ideas we had. He showed us a photo album of food he has served up and venues he has done..All very nice..I am having a June wedding (18th) and its an outside civil ceremony, drinks on the lawn (weather WILL be sunny!!!!) and then wedding breakfast/reception in a marquee in the same grounds. So my plan (rough one!) is this:
Reception drinks on the lawn, with canapes coming round on platters by waiting staff (for approx 1 hr while photos etc are being done). There will also be lawn games I think...all this depends on the weather of course!
Sit down meal would either consist of a starter & main, or a main and dessert..... OR (and this was my grand idea!)...Starter (pate or crab cakes), Main (prob Lamb with herb crust), and then instead of dessert, a cake stand (venue/wedding = very English, so those really nice cream shabby chic cake stands ala Laura Ashley!) per table full of scones served with clotted cream and raspberry preserve to go with tea and coffee. Is that weird?? Honest answers please? We arent having many more people attending in the evening but are still thinking of having a bbq outside the marquee for those that want more food. To be honest, the catering looks like its going to be pretty expensive and although I want a sit down meal (with silver service), the scone idea was so it was slightly cheaper but also because it fits in with the vintage/english theme I would like a hint of at my wedding.
Remember, honest answers please :o) And any ideas to cut the cost would be good too :o) For a wedding where there are literally about 20 more people for the evening, do you think you have to put a load more food on in the evening?
Thanks guys xx
