Celebrity connections

Any of us OTers have any to share?

My mum used to work in the theatre and once tripped up over Jack Dee who was wandering around backstage (she is very tall and he is not, and I think they crashed on some stairs.) She also once saw the bloke who plays Steve Macdonald in Corrie march up past a line of people waiting for tickets at the box office and demand to get served first. He did actually say to the lady behind the desk 'Don't you know who I am?' My mum also sneaked me into my first gig when I was a titch, Pet Shop Boys, and a big gay bear guy put me on his back for the whole show so I could see better. Turns out the bear bloke was something to do with their entourage, so I am practically famous myself now.

My sister in law is an actress on Welsh TV. She was in an episode of Gavin and Stacey and is now on Pobl y Cwm (the Welsh language soap).

I once queued behind Jo from SClub7 in Romford Primark.

My dad is at present acting in a play with the parents of Jude Law and the set designer is the guy who built chitty chitty bang bang for the west end production

Mum and dad once sat behind Jean Luc Picard in the theatre

My OH nearly ran over Griff Rhys Jones and met Yazz (of the plastic population) before she was famous

And I have a signed copy of Jamie Oliver's Naked Chef because my OH did some work at his Big Feastival two years ago and took my daughter with him so we also have a photograph of him with my daughter

My friend's nephew is Jamie Johnson who just came fourth in The Voice and was mentored by Kylie Minogue

And I have Rav Wilding's signature because my OH met him in a newsagents one afternoon

    How's that?

My ex grew up with Martin Cranie (Championship football player, currently plays for Barnsley) and we all went out on a night out together once.

My own biggest claim to fame, though, is I used to do marshalling for various golf tournaments (when I was about 15) and they always held a charity game where professionals would team up with celebrities. My friend was super confident and the year before had met Ronan Keating so was like let's go and talk to him. Which we did. Or should I say she did, and I stood completely open mouthed absolutely mesmerised by his beauty. Honestly, it was unbelievable. He was trying to talk to me and I just crumbled, like a stupid girl with a crush. I wanted the ground to swallow me up, haha.

I work in theatre so I've met tons of famous people, but it's just work so I don't really class it as connections so to speak. The bloke who plays Steve McDonald has been a pain to me too! And I've met the Pet Shop Boys too (Neil Tenant came to the desk and spoke to me politely while Chris Lowe stood behind him silently looking at the floor). Some of my favourites: Bill Bailey (he signed a guitar for my then-bf), Derren Brown (he signed my newspaper cutting which I still have on my wall), Mark Radcliffe, Johnny Ball, Bernard Sumner, Mel and Sue, and there must be loads of others I've forgotten. Gwen Taylor leaned over the counter and pulled one of my pigtails - no idea why...

I've also mentioned before that I was heavily involved in chrismoyles.net and was invited by the show producer Aled to attend the live leaving party show at the BBC Radio Theatre. The tribute book I compiled was also presented and discussed on the final show and my name was mentioned, which I was ridiculously pleased about.

My 'celeb connections' are pretty lame... the actor who played Jaws in the Bond movies once ran over my foot with his electric scooter thing.... he didn't even notice either....

I did also work with Roy Evans from Eastenders son at Dominos Pizza.....

I did say they would be lame....

My dad was a roadie for The Who and drove Roger Daltry's new Maserati down some country lanes really fast once - that's pretty impressive right?!

I've met Jamie Oliver and Rick Stein at book signings, Caroline Quentin when I was younger.

I was about 10 and got lost at an Aquarium, my mum found me watching Blue Peter being filmed and I had a pic taken with Richard Bacon. But then when his drug issues hit the press I tore it up haha! Funnily enough I saw him walking through Soho last Friday.

I worked one floor up from Team GB house during the 2012 Games and I saw - Greg Rutherford, Louis Smith and Torvil and Dean while waiting to get into my building (we had airport style scanners)

    I've met Boris Johnson?

Erm...I'm sure there are more but I just cant think.....

My dad used to fix Robbie Coltranes car years ago. That's about it! I've passed Billy Boyd in the street and made him laugh when I did a seriously stupid double take at him.

Ooh really? What do you do?

I have a scarf signed by Patrick Moore when he opened the penguin enclosure at Chester Zoo.

And I once walked passed Keith Duffy from Boyzone in Limestreet Station.

OH used to play out with Austin Healey

ETA, I can't believe I forgot, I've been to a garden party at Buckingham palace and the Queen, Prince Phil, and Princes Charles and Andrew were there, just milling around. I didn't talk to them though

Mine are pretty rubbish, I nearly got knocked over by Gok Wan when he was rushing around at a wedding fair once. I met Jimmy Carr at one of his shows and that's about it.

My sister was drinking buddies with Blaze Bayley. I can't stand the bloke, and bumped into him at a studio, where my then boyfriends band were rehearsing. The studio was double booked, and BB really said "don't you know who I am?" I replied "yeah, the tw@t who puked on my sisters shoes" then walked off.

I hugged Jimmy Carr, and told him he was short, and that I liked short people.

Walked past Prince William and his entourage I didn't realise had to have it pointed out and the same for David Cameron (both at train stations)

    On the train:

The guy from busted who is married to Emma Willis?

Suggs (sp?) (The guy from madness)

John Bishop twice (once made him pay for sitting in 1st class ?)

In a pub- Bez from happy Mondays- doesn't really count as it was a PA but we didn't know.

Manchester airport- Jon Paul & Jacqui McQueen ala hollyoaks fame

Husband has met attention whore Harry Styles and got me his autograph....?thanks husband!

Just in group sales and box office. Not very exciting but we are a modern theatre where it's very common for 'stars' to walk around the building and chat to staff at the counter. Our canteen is also the green room, so I've eaten lunch sat opposite Willem Defoe Smiley smile

I'm related to the Cusacks (not in a Christmas card kind of way, in fact I don't even remember what the blood connection is, but I'm assured by my Irish side of the family that there is one.)

Hayley from Corrie (Julie Hesmondhalgh) once presented me with an award. SHE KISSED ME ON THE CHEEK!

My mate used to go out with (and is still v good friends with) someone who is on the TV show Benidorm

I used to live in the Hacienda, I met Peter Hook and told him and he commented that he thought it was weird and was I being haunted by ghosts every night. He then signed my Hacienda book for me "Cool place to live ... but weird."

Spent the afternoon with Pete Williams (Dexys Midnight Runners) at a friends BBQ, which was ace, even did a rendition of Come on Eileen which was awesome!

H has loads, always bumping into people especially at service stations, and he always sparks up conversation with them too, to name a few, Sue Barker and her Mum, Laurence Llewelyn Bowen, Duncan Bannatyne, Matt Le Tissier and loads more just can't think.

    Lots of stealth boasting here:

Gem archer is my sisters friend and used to babysit me when I was younger.

through this have met Liam Gallagher who was actually really nice. Shook my hand and was like 'hi I'm Liam' as if I diddnt know who he was.

Oh and Daniel beddingfield once asked me if I wanted his autograph in schuh in Southampton- I diddnt.

I've stood beside Price Harry and didn't notice, only the weird reaction of my friends who had!

Whilst working in the music business I danced Brian Adams on stage at a gig. I also met lots of other random artists.

I've been on Blue Peter, and seen Tim Vincent in his pants.

She hasn't yet, nope! She did come to visit MediaCity opposite so I saw her out the window, but she didn't come into the building. Prince Edward has been here, but we all know he's the one they send when none of the important ones can be bothered to turn up Smiley smile
