Centerpieces

16 May, 2012 at 10:38 Posted on Planning 0 5

My Mum's friend does flower arranging and has offered to do our centerpieces for us. I am just wondering if by the time we have had to buy/hire the vases and the wholesale flowers if the cost will be that much different from a florist doing it? Any idea?

I would like tall centerpieces as our reception space is a white marquee so I would like a pop of colour from the flowers when you walk in the room.

Can anyone share how much their centerpieces cost whether from a florist or doing it yourself from a wholesaler? Also any flashes of tall centerpieces would be great. I really love hydrangeas if that helps Smiley smile

Wow they look lovely. I have gone for martini glass vases with a floating gerbera heads and I have ended up hiring them as the vases were working out £20+ each. So i am paying for someone to do them for me including the flowers, glass plate and candles is £16 Smiley smile

    Hi,

I am a florist. It will be cheaper to do your own flowers. Are you doing your own bouquet? Buy the flowers wholesale, i suggest trianglenurseries or dutchflowersdirect both are online and have no minimum order.

Tall centrepieces are lovely, be careful there are not in your guests eyeline, preventing them of seeing other guests. If you want to cut cost of vases, you can have tall centrepieces on half the tables and low foam centrepieces on the other half.

You need to know how many centrepieces you are having and include a headtable piece as well. What month are you getting married? Calculate how many flowers you will need. This will detrmine what flowers are in season. Hydrangeas are great flowers, they drink water through their heads and be careful of wilting in hot weather.

    Hope it helps
