centre piece help

Alanafx, 7 September, 2011 at 20:53 Posted on Planning 0 11

h2b has decided as we are getting married in november he wants a wintery theme for the day (nothing like changing things at the last min eh lol ) have a few ideas how we can incorporate a winter theme although stuck with centrepieces as we already have fish bowls - we were originally having fish bowls with germini flowers in them and grasses on mirrored plates with scatter crystals.

Does anyone have any ideas on ways to use the fish bowls in a wintery theme? or do you think we should stick with original plans ?.

One obvious thing that springs to mind is to use some white gravel/sand (to look like snow) within the fishbowls?

If you've got a Modelzone or good model railway shop nearby you could always use Woodland Scenics soft flake snow (https://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/Item/SN140/page/1) instead of scatter crystals?

Here's some on a model railway (can you guess one of my hobbies). You don't need to glue it down, you can just shake it and sprinkle it.

I am in the same position as you, November wedding, so i am trying to get the budget together to have candlabras with candles and flowers and around the bottom tealights and scattered crystals, and also i thought it would look nice as the venue is in a barn!!

    hope this helps?!

You could use some fallen wood which you've dried out for a few months too, that's wintery but not necessarily christmas (I've got a piece with some lichen on it that is going to form part of our autumn decorations).

We're using a green version of https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/60027285/ from Ikea (600.272.85) for our aisle decorations on the end of rows, but the brown ones might do for some decor somewhere? Again, wintery but not necessarily christmas. Spread out, sprayed with a spray mount glue and sprinkled with the model snow they might look quite nice somewhere?

Last Christmas I did this with some left over Christmas baubles and some silver pot pouri, but maybe you could use some fake snow at the bottom and just use white/silver baubles?

I love to see Christmas baubles in large glass vases or bowls. You could put a holly wreath around the base of your fish bowl

Was going to say some pretty baubles filling up a fish bowl is stunning. Maybe some fairy type lights in?

Have you brought the fish bowls or are you hiring them? If you have brought them you could get some of the frosted glass spray (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rust-Oleum-AE0010003E8-400ml-Frosted-Glass/dp/B001W03PO0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1315464717&sr=8-2) but mark out some snowflake shapes on them? Then you could fill them with some sparkly white or blue pebbles to catch the light (though not sure what your colour scheme is).

You could fill the bowls with Ivy & Pine cones ading some red berries for colour.

Or fill with baubles & fairy lights
