Centrepiece Advice.... *FLASH* - Updated Flash!

Mrslh2b, 12 October, 2015 at 11:36 Posted on Planning 0 22

So I’m looking for some constructive advice on our centrepieces (please excuse my washing up drying in the background!!).

Our theme is gold, champagne and blush and after some frustrations with out florist we have decided to do the flowers ourselves. We did a small mock up over the weekend and the below was the result – they will be on large round tables that seat 8 – 12 people.

I don’t like asking friends and family their opinions as I don’t want to broadcast everything that we’re doing. I’ve sent it to my BM who said they were nice but my manager is saying that he thinks it may be too much in the middle of the table and that we should reduce it to a maximum of 3 bottles.

Any opinions or constructive advice on anything we can do to change or improve them would be greatly appreciated Smiley smile

    I think this looks gorgeous.

I would take into account what your manager said though - what else will you be having on the table? Obviously there will be plates, cutlery, wineglasses - but then will there by favours, side plates, extra cutlery, water glasses, name cards?

It could look a little crowded once it's all on?

I think also take into account everything else on the table. Probably with all the crockery, cutlery, glasses and stationery stuff the amount you have may take up a bit too much room.

Will you be able to see your venue room set up before hand? If so you will be able to see how much room there is for centrepieces and calculate how many work best. If not you may be able to ask what's the biggest size of a centrepiece without it taking up all the room. I bet they can give you an idea.

    keep to an odd number.

Forgot to say... Looks lovely though Smiley smile

I think they look lovely! you've given me inspiration for my centrepieces! Are they artificial flowers?

In terms of the amount of bottles, personally I don't think it's too much but it does depend how big the tables are really and like others have said how much other stuff you have on the table. Maybe try it out with plates, glasses and wine etc to get a better reflection?

Personally, I would remove the two small ones at either side that have the smaller foam roses in and go with the larger roses only. A group of 3 with the tea lights moved closer in would leave more room for the crockery/cutlery etc. Just one point regarding your tea lights, have you checked with your venue that they allow them as some don't due to insurance and fire regulations. I really like the containers and the colour of them too.

Thanks all – you’ve made me feel a lot more confident about them!

Here is the best picture of the tables I can get – we will be having wine on the table, place cards, small favour boxes in each place setting and also a bottle with the table name in the top, so I think you’re all right (along with my manager but won’t tell him that!) that it’s going to look too crowded with so many bottles. Will try again tonight with a less bottles and come back tomorrow with another flash.

Thanks for your help Smiley smile

Looks a lovely room. I would take the book as a reference point for size of display. Stick to 3 of 5 bottles. 3 might be better. Once seated people will put stuff down on the table also. Even if their favours are on their plate it will of course get moved when eating. There could be an extra glass as they bring drinks in with them from the bar.

Some do allow naked flames if they are totally enclosed in glass but it depends on their insurance policy and whether the building is listed or not. Gorgeous room by the way!

I like it! Same colour theme as me ☺️

Im afraid I'm gonna probably be one of those brides with lots on the table ?

you our could always have the tea lights a bit closer to the bottles. This will allow a tiny bit more room for other things. Or you could have table number on one of the bottles with the flowers in instead of having another one for the table number.

I want ours full like this ☺️ Probably won't Look or be as nice as this but this is the style I'm aiming for.

I love it but you have the same colour scheme as me so I am probably biased! :-)

I agree that less bottles would be best as tables always tend to feel a bit cluttered at weddings once you have the plates, side plates, cutlery, the different glasses etc.

I love these! The only thing I would change would be that all of that is put on a circle mirror plate so it keeps it all together like 'this is our centrepiece' admire the gorgeousness! lol

Thanks everyone Smiley smile I think we might try putting them on log slices to see how they look. Didn't get a chance to have another go last night as I had a good weigh in at SW so treat myself to a take away and then had a food come... woops! Will have another go tonight.

Jesikab - those centrepieces are stunning!!

Sorry Daniella - completely forgot to reply to this! Yes they're artificial flowers, I got them from a shop near us in South Wales but believe you can buy online. Cheapest I could find and the quality is brilliant.

Looks lovely! Did it save you flowers too or did you put more in each?

Did you check you could have tea lights. I don't think I've ever been to a wedding that didn't have them yet some are saying not allowed as a safety risk.

I'm going to check when we go for our menu tasting on November 29th - if not I think I'll just use fake ones. I'm pretty sue it should be ok though as the flame is 'covered' to an extent rather than being naked like the candles on a candleabra

That's true. And you can always use less to keep costs lower if fake needed. And possibly even sell them afterwards.

Less is definitely more with this I think- they looked great but a little 'crowded' to me in the first trial- the second one looks stunning- enough to 'Wow', but still sophisticated! Gorgeous.....and got me thinking about my centrepiece s now!!
