Centrepiece help pretty please?

KristaltippsHall, 12 February, 2011 at 20:36 Posted on Planning 0 10

2 weeks to go eeek!

Have decided to go with large Martini glasses as centrepieces (fits with the movie theme). Each table will have black and white movie posters overlapped from the centre outwards (like a coming attractions type thing) and then the glass in the centre, and I want to try and incorporate film (which I have) so I was thinking put the top of the film IN the glass, hold it down then let it coil over the edge, round the stem and secure under the base. I was going to put heart shaped dragees in them but I don't want the kids reaching up for them.

So, question is WHAT goes in the glasses to secure? gotta be heavy to keep it in, look pretty and be CHEAP cos the budget is fast dwindling!

HELP?!

What about filling 35mm film canisters with pebbles?

You could even put cut out photos, glitter, film stars on the outside of the canister if they are too plain without.

My original idea was to have sliver movie tins with the sweets in, but theyre really hard to get hold of so I've had to move on to this. Do you think beads would be heavy enough? I'm thinking pearls, and then they could drape over the sides too in a dirtily elegant sort of way?

Ive got an idea but its really hard to explain so stick with me...

Im thinking stem vases instead of martini glasses and maybe trying to make film flowers attach them to wire and pop them into the vase.

You could make the flowers by looping negatives (folding in half) and the centre could be a canister lid attach some florist wire stick the negatives petals to the lid then attach wire... maybe three in each glass and to decorate the vase maybe swirl round black and white ribbon or use strip photos of you and you OH...

If you understood any of that I hope it helps you!

    Just an idea

I have been pondering this for a while for you now. All i can come up with is that you have different items in each glass that are to do with different films. OK I'm not explaining that very well so I shall start again. Are you naming teh tables after films? If so could you have something from that film in the martini glass so if it was 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' you could have lots of Tiffany boxes in it, whilst if it was 'The Wizard of Oz' you could have ruby red crystals. Do you get what I mean? Not even sure it would work and would mean that all of them are different but if you had something in all of them then the added extra could be small.

I do like the idea of the glasses being filled up with lots of film cartridges and if you could get loads free from Boots or a photo shop that would be good.

Oooo could you just weigh them down with a big stone and then cover it with pop corn?

If I have it correct, you want to know how to hold strips of negative roll in place within the martini glass so they can come out & drape over?

Why cant you use clear glue dots or blue tack to hold the film there?
