Centrepieces

Katty1234, 23 October, 2013 at 19:18 Posted on Planning 0 29

Hi ladies

what kind of centre piceces are you having for your reception? High rise or low rise? Currently my plan is to have all low but now worried that there won't be enough height and prescene and will get a bit lost?

any OMs got any pics of their low arrangements in their rooms to put my mind at rest! Lol xxxx

thanks! X

    Hiya.

We're going with all low, we're having bowls with flowers in them and the lovely people on here advised that if I got anything bigger it could take away the look of those so I think we#re getting something else to go in between them but it'll be something small like lanters with little tealights beside it or something.

I don't think it'll do any harm to have either low or high it's whatever you prefer, the only thing I don't like is the centrepieces that you can't see others across the table over haha.

Ooooo that sounds like mine! Bowls with flowers in but petals and tea lights at the bottom!

But then On other tables where having clusters of flowers and tea lights and candlesticks just to mix it up a bit. I'm sure that when it's all done together it will look fine, think I'm just worrying as I find it hard to visualise how it will look collectively! X

I have model ships which my mum is going to arrange on oasis with thistles and gypsophalia. The venue have very large ornate candlesticks for the tables so I'm going to see how they look altogether.

That sounds nice and cosy! I know what you mean, it's hard to imagine it all together on the day but i'm sure it'll be lovely Smiley smile
I think we like to get ourselves worked up over the little things haha, wish I could see exactly how it would look on the day though Smiley laugh

I'm sorry to say I had tall arrangements, they were more impact when guests entered the room. But the downside was that once they were sat down, guests couldn't really see them. With low impact ones the guests will get to look at them and appreciate them while eating.

Our reception is in a marquee so we're having a mixture of high and low to balance out the ceiling height xx

Oh wow....so many beautiful arrangements! Maybe I could see if there is a way of incorporating a couple of higher arrangements to give a bit more height. X

One thing I hate is being sat at a table when you can't see the person opposite, so low for us def! I'm thinking lots of candles

Think ours will be low so people can see them; each table will be different with lots of little details I'd like people to see! Smiley smile

Our we're going to be high but are now going to be low. As planning has gone on we've seen most things we've picked falling into the vintage/very English country garden type theme, so the flowers are going to have a hand picked sort of look to them, not too matchy matchy, and probably jugs to hold them in. There'll be some candles on the table too, not sure in what form yet...

We haven't had a discussion about them yet... But I am thinking either all low or a mixture of high and low.

I will be hiring my centrepieces too as I just CBA fiddling around and hunting stuff down - Call me lazy! Smiley smile

Sarah I love your centre pieces! Did you make them yourself or buy them from somewhere?

We're going for low - jars with glitter round the bottom, with tea lights inside, placed on round mirrors so the light reflects off - it's not letting me post the image for some reason but will try later. I like high centrepieces e.g. candleabras but I agree it can make the table feel a bit more formal plus you can't see the people opposite you! It's all down to your personal preference.

Going for medium height. Not so much it breaks the view of the person across you, but not so low it gets lost amongst glasses and plates Smiley smile

I'm having these. A friend will supply the rough hewn wood pieces and I will put something on them..not sure yet what, but love the wood effect candles.

We're going for that too traleegirl! Although we're having crystal cut glasses (sourced from charity shops!) and were thinking that to add a bit of height might try putting decanters in the middle with tall flowers in but have yet to try this, or find any decanters which are cheap!

We are having small cubed vases (Ikea, £5 each), filled with purplue Lisianthus, cream roses, purple Delphinium and foliage.

I hope it looks nice! My personal taste is simple centrepieces, but beautiful flowers. Fresh flowers are just stunning.

I'm hoping mine will look like this bouquet below.

High and low - our venue is quite grand with the reception in a high-ceilinged marquee so I think we need height for the wow factor. We're having candelabra, but with the flowers around the base so they don't obstruct people's view of one another. Something like this ^ but different colours/flowers and with some crystal beads.
