Cerazette Shortage

I take Cerazette progestogen only pill, my doctor gives me a 6 months supply each time. Last week I called my doctors for a repeat prescription but couldn't collect it until today, H went to Lloyds to give them the prescription and the pharmacist says that there is a problem with the manufacturer and he has not received a supply for about a month. When he got home from work we decided to call our local Boots midnight pharmacy to see if they have any stock and the pharmacist was saying how he has called around every pharmacy in York since the problem arose and there is not a single pack anywhere. They have told me to hold on until the 6th when they get their next delivery and see whether there are any but otherwise they have said to go back to my doctor and get them to write a prescription for an alternative PoP. The problem is it took me months of hell going through various pills to find one which didn't exacerbate my depression and anxiety. I can wait until the 6th but I only have 10 pills remaining in my sheet and I'm worried that if they don't come back in stock in time I'm going to be stuck. I could not go through all of that hell again just because some idiot pharmaceutical company can't keep tabs on their stock levels. Has anyone else been affected by the shortage and can you tell me what you have done? Thank you.

    Ohhh no! im on that one too and its the only one that suites me!! luckily i have about 9 months worth left which should last me until i want to come off it

    Thats utterly ridiculous....i went through a pill prob a few years ago where i moved from one town to another and was told that the pill i was on (yasmin) was stopped by my region the previous year and despite the 25 miles tween the two doc surgeries, if i wanted to keep on yasmin id have to buy it privately or on the web. Which wasnt good practice in my opinion as they wouldnt be able to keep tabs on my blood pressure etc. I was furious and at the eleventh hour had to take a new brand of pill. Funnily enough i had a rant about it on here and got flamed for wanting free contraceptives and for being angry at the NHS for not warning pill users to the change... *sigh* Did you get any warning from your health care provider that this was going to happen? no....

    it is bloody annoying, i appreciate that but you might need to consider one you have yet to try or an alternative means???

    I'm on it too, but not having any supply issues down in Hull, fingers crossed you can get it (I'm on it as it doesn't affect my depression so totally understand how you'd be feeling) fingers crossed hun x

    I honestly don't think I could go through the "trial and error" phase again. At the moment my depression is extremely bad, I can barely get out of bed at the moment, I could not cope with another dodgy pill, it would probably be the end of me. Another option is that we could use condoms until supply starts to pick up again but when I stopped using Cerazette a while ago the withdrawal was so bad, it felt as though I was going insane. It all boils down to my depression, it rules everything in my life. This is what happens when you live in an area where every GP refuses to accept that depression exists, what a wonderful life I seem to be living right now all thanks to them. Thank you NHS, I love you.

    Ignore me Im so behind, just seen Bobbins post on WP and was going 2 suggest same as I have a full box unopened as I changed brands so if u do need some sending to you just let me know

    Hi,

    I am in desperate need of Cerazette as I am leaving the UK for 9 months in January and the doctors have only just told me they will be unable to complete my prescription.

    If you still have any, I would be so grateful if you could send them to me?
