Ceremony Decorations

Mrs Rowan to be, 23 August, 2013 at 13:31 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hello All,

I am in need of some inspiration.

Our wedding venue is perfect for me and the OH. It is small, quite and just what we wanted it. Its a blank canvas so we can dress it up as much or as little as we like.

Where the ceremony takes place there is unfortunately a back drop of a brick wall. Now this wall looks fine when the DJ is on etc however when it has just a table in front of it with some flowers, it just looks like its missing something that little bit extra.

i have attached a couple of photos that i have found so that you get the idea of what i mean.

Any ideas on what i can do to this wall to make it less plain?

What will the budget stretch to? You could get it tented, but that would be costly. It just needs breaking up a bit - what about some bay trees or similar either side of the table (but about 50cm to each side) and then some fairy lights strung across the wall to them (and round them) or some bunting. There is a black thing (looks like a speaker), is it a projector?

Are you allowed to attach things to the wall, or hang things from the ceiling? If you are, what about a sheet with something painted on?

Or how about large, floor-standing floral arrangements?

What about a room divider/dressing screen behind the table?

As little as possible ideally. I had thought of getting it tented however down one side of the room (the complete lenght) is nice door/windows so you get a lot of natural light.

I like the idea of some bay trees and lights - thinking of having them scattered about anyway. Its also very 'me'! Not sure what the black thing is.

If you could pin something to the wooden strip at the top of the brick, you could use these http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20221557/#/00221563 (they are very wide I have them at home). You could put lights on the wall then these over the top so the lights would sparkle through? You could even stick the lights to the inside of the curtains, so you wouldn't have to worry about hanging them on the wall http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/2699127.htm

It could look something like this

Depends on your theme really, grandeur? whimsical? Vintage? alternative?

If it went with your theme some rows of bunting would look nice

Some dj's do a star cloth hire which is reduced, Sometimes included when you use them. They make lovely backgrounds Smiley smile
