Ceremony music help

MrsCLDtobe, 11 March, 2015 at 15:36 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi all,

Me and Mr D are having a church service, so I've been trying to put together the music ready to order the Order of Service booklets. Our playlist looks something like this at the moment:

Prelude music

Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

What a Wonderful World - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

Falling in Love - The O'Neill Brothers

Processional music

Tale as Old as Time (Instrumental) - Beauty and the Beast

Entrance of the bride

Nuvole Bianche - Ludovico Einaudi

Interlude (signing of the register)

It Had to be You - Harry Cornick Jr

Recessional/departure

(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher & Higher - Jackie Wilson

The whole list comes to about 23:50 mins long, although there will obviously be breaks for hymns, readings, ceremony etc. Do people think this is enough music? I'm particularly worried about the prelude section- this comes to about 9:05 mins in total. Please be honest with your thoughts on it; I really appreciate any support.

Thanks!

    Hi,

i am having a civil ceremony at a barn venue but thought I'd let you know that I was advised to have 15-20 mins of music for the prelude put in order of preference. Hope this helps a little. X ps love love love the first two songs on your prelude list, think I'm going to go up the aisle to that version of somewhere over the rainbow

Thank you, that's a great help. H2B has another song he wants instead of the Harry Connick Jr. song so we are going to move that to the Prelude. Just need to find another song or two now.

Etta James - At Last would work well with those other songs I think.

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole is a wonderful choice. I learnt recently he recorded Over The Rainbow and What a Wonderful World in one go, he rang a recording studio at 3am, recorded it at 3.15am. All done!

Thanks for your suggestion; funnily enough we were tweaking the list last night and added Etta James. Once it's finalised, I'll be sure to post the list here for you to see.

    Thanks again

I am walking down the aisle to Etta James - it's a surprise for H2B. I chose it as he has a terrible habbit of singing it at the top of his voice in Waitrose to embarrass me!

Just listening to Beauty and the Beast instrumental now, it really is beautiful!

This might help, lovely - the violinist/pianist supermusician man I hired, Simon Jordan, plays requests and has put all the music he has been asked to play on his website www.pianistwedding.co.uk/what-other-people-chose/ - you could have some inspiration there.
