Ceremony time?

Peppr Potts, 16 March, 2012 at 16:47 Posted on Planning 0 3

Now that we have (provisionally) booked our venue (?) I need to book the Registrar but i'm not sure what time to go for with the ceremony. This is what the venue have told us timing- wise:

House DJ (included in package) will start at 7pm

Room takes 30-45 minutes to change from wedding breakfast to evening set-up

Meal and speeches etc take roughly 2.5 hours

Room takes 1.5 hours to change from ceremony to wedding breakfast

I was thinking of having the ceremony at 2pm, does this sound about right or do you think i should have it earlier?

According to the timings the venue has given you, 2pm should be fine.

Whether you have it earlier or not really depends on what you want.

I decided to have my ceremony at 12 for a couple of reasons: I wanted to start the evening do at 6pm so that the evening guests had longer (our last orders are at 11pm (boo).

I also didn't want to feel rushed at any point.

It has meant a lot of my family are staying two nights (Fri and Sat for a Sat wedding) as most people are travelling but as our hotel prices are very reasonable (no rooms at the venue) this wasn't an issue.

Sounds about right to me. Our venue advised our ceremony to be at 3pm, but im thinking of changing it to 2 so i can have the meal a little bit earlier, would like all the guests to be hungry again by the time the buffet comes out. I personally wouldn't go much earlier though as Id be worrying about the time being filled and guests being bored.

This is what i'm worried about, i don't want to feel rushed but i also don't want too much milling around with nothing going on, i know how easily i get bored so wouldn't want my guests to get restless!

Plus, my sister got married last year, had her ceremony at 2pm, we started getting ready at about 8am and we were still rushing to get out the door on time so any earlier and i think i'd have to start my preparations at midnight!
