Chair covers

Natjay, 14 April, 2011 at 23:06 Posted on Planning 0 14

Hi I am wondering what brides who are not having chair covers planning on doing, My idea was to still use a sash but i have been told that they wont work without a cover, is this true can i do something else? I really want to do something with the chairs but not willing to pay over the odds prices for a bit of fabric.

Any ideas will be much appreciated

Thanks

I brought new chair covers from a seller on e bay, 50 for £142. Then when i have finished with them there going straight back on e bay! I did my research and they are selling for the price we paid, so hopefully we will get our money back at the end!

Leaving them as is, better things to do with £300 than cover up perfectly good chairs.

This is our room, set up for someone else's wedding. We'll be having the same except for hunter green squares in the middle of the white tablecloths as that's our main other colour.

If the chairs are fine then there is no reason to cover them. Sashes look ok on their own on certain chairs, on banqueting chair ( the ones that are in most venues) they don't look right, they won't show on certain colours and they also don't sit properly.

Unless you want them just for their decorative value then I wouldn't bother.

I'm just leaving mine as they are. Have checked that hey are not really tatty. We were looking at chair covers but then found out the price and thought we would rather use the money for something else (on a tight budget). If your chairs are plain they would be OK with a ribbon on the back? Ours are a bit patterned so I think would look odd. Just found this in a magazine, not sure about this particular one but an idea :-) Sorry it's massive !!

For her birthday, my friend put pull bows on the back of her chairs. Cheap but effective.

We were lucky and had quite nice chairs, the seats were red which completely didn't go with my scheme but once people were sat down it dodn't matter anyway!

I put white sashes on the back on mine and Mr C's chairs to differentiate them from the others.

I was much happier putting the money behind the bar!!!

I bought my own wedding covers on ebay and bought the organza sashes at the florist wholesalers!

Since then I have hired them to local friends by word of mouth for £50 for 150 seat covers (self service). Soon made up the cost of purchasing them in the first place!

Defo worth looking on ebay and finding some friends to fit them for you!

The chairs at our venue are revolting, but we've decided that we just don't have the money for chair covers, and by the time everyone is sitting on them, nobody will care what they look like anyway. We (well I!) ummed and ahh'd over covers, but since we found out we have to move house days after the wedding, we're having to save every penny possible. Unless I have a Chair-y Godmother (see what I did there! ? ) it's just not going to happen!

Here are my super horrid chairs:

    LAAAAARRVELY aren't they!!

Sammyjay there is nothing wrong with those chairs! You would be wasting money covering them!

Our (soon to be I hope!) venue chairs are gold framed and green seat covers/backs, quite regal but not ideal with our autumnal colour theme and although my OH wants to cover them I'm happy to spend the money elsewhere, I just have to cinvince him....! x
