chair covers

irrelephant, 8 August, 2011 at 16:03 Posted on Planning 0 42

Whats a reasonable price for chair covers? I am loathe to pay for them, i think they're annoying and don't like them but the chairs at the venue are just standard 'conference' chairs and the room looks terrible without chair covers.

So far i've had two email quotes of £179 and £168. The last one is with all sorts of discounts applied. Are there HIB's here who do chair covers?

I always swore that i wouldn't have chair covers, but i found myself looking at the chairs in our venue and thinking to myself, and then out loud to my OH that i wanted Chair Covers. I think they are the biggest waste of money out there, but my, don't they make your venue look so pretty?

I've got a meeting with an events decor lady tonight to discuss our needs. She does chair covers at £3.50 and £1 for a sash. We know we could probably get them cheaper, but she stays really close to our venue, so we're not going to have to pay the delivery charge!

When was the last time you went to anything and your lasting memory was how good or bad the chairs were?

When people are sat down, the guys have put their jackets on them, nobody will know what the chair looks like.

I'm firmly in the camp that chair covers are by and large unnecessary.

Not sure how many chairs you are having so can't say how reasonable your two quotes are but after receiving several quotes, the average in my area (bedfordshire) seems to be £2.99 per cover for standard lycra (inclusive of sash and fitting) or £3.85 per cover for premium linen (again inclusive of sash and fitting)

I disagree actually. I went to a wedding last friday and the room the wedding breakfast was in was very plain, not very weddingy (not a word I know!) at all. We all commented that if it were not for the chair covers, the room would have looked very boring.

An example of before and after:

That is precisely why i am now getting chair covers! I'm thinking of my photo's and how lovely and complete the venue will look with them.

We were very lucky with our chairs in that they were dark wood modern looking chairs, not standard conference chairs.

Had they have been standard hotel conference chairs I would have looked into chair covers, but would have found the cheapest ones possible.

I think they make a difference to the impact and ambience of the room as shown by Twists..

AJ, i too am of the same opinion, but the chairs truly are horrible. Some have stains on them and tbh, considering they will be in photographs etc I don't want that in my photos!

Can't remember who mentioned numbers but we're guessing approx 75.

If the £168 quote is based on 75 chair covers that's a very reasonable £2.25 per cover. If that is inclusive of sash and fitting i'd say you've got yourself a good deal!

Twists, yes it is. I think it was 2.35 per cover and sash. But it doesn't look a very well known company so not sure.

Jules, will email. I was just using that cook book you sent me the other day actually and thinking about you! ha ha.

I am very reluctantly getting chair covers as our venue has beautiful black and gold chairs - only problem is our theme is Royal Blue and silver, so sadly do not go.

I wasn't going to go with chair covers, as my venue quoted me £4.50 per chair x 70 £315.00.....but the chairs are red and not in keeping with my theme, also we will only be at the venue for 3 hours or so. it hardly seems worth it, but found a company via good old ebay who will supply and set up for £140.

As I now have to change my venue dresser, I have just had a quote for 100 chair covers, sash and buckle for £3.50 a chair - this also includes registrar and cake table decoration.

We're £3 a chair for cover and sash, including set up, and also the woman coming back at midnight to clear away as the venue stipulate that everything must be returned to original state.

The chairs look ok to me but the venue is very Grand & I think the chair covers soften the whole look of the room.

I agree on all that is said - Some venues have perfectly nice chairs. Some do not. Some that look nice are often found to be badly stained or ripped. Some are as I said perfectly okay.

Also, just to say i'm taking my MOH with me to the venue this weekend to have a look at the chairs and take some measurements for other stuff too. PiL and mum don't think we need them but i don't want my photos to end up looking naff. They aren't being used for ceremony, just reception but still, I want it to look PRETTY. They've convinced me its something i can book closer to the time though i think.

Annie, the chairs are nice but depending on your colour scheme the green could really clash...

I am paying 206 for 75 chairs inc sash, delivery and set up so would say ur price is a good one
