Chair Covers...

vicki1180_0, 13 October, 2011 at 21:51 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi Ladies

I could do with some opinions and maybe someone talking some sense to me!

Ok so venue is booked, but the chairs are like this

Only a deep burgundy colour. I love chair covers and I think that they really are a finishing touch at a reception and have had my heart set on them. Obviously, chairs with arms can't be covered - or so I thought. I have found a picture of chair covers with arms but i'm not sure if I like them?!

http://www.covers.net.nz/shop/example1/Chairs+with+Arms.html

Can anyone convince me that it's no the end of the world

Also can I have your opinion on covers for the chairs with arms, and if anyone knows a company that does them.

if anyone has got any flashes of venues without chair covers it might help me convince myself it's not a big deal!!!

Thankyou ?

I'm not very keen on the chair covers with arms to be honest.

I actually quite like the chairs, they're quirky.

I don't know if you've thought about it, but I'm hiring chairs like these for about £3.75 a chair.

    WSS.

The wedding industry has made a lot of money convincing people that things like chair covers "make" a wedding, they don't, they're just an item of decoration that many people feel pressured into having because so many other people have felt pressured into having before them.

They may look impressive as you enter the room, but once everyone has sat down, put their coats/jackets over the back of the chair and your butt on the seat, you can't see them.

By all means, have chair covers. But there are plenty of other things you could do with £400 or thereabouts.

These were our chairs set up for the ceremony...

... and, as you can see when they were set up for the wedding breakfast, the lack of chair covers made no difference.

I really don't think you NEED chair covers, however if you really want them then you should go for it.

Personally I am also hiring chairs like Kharv, the chairs in my venue are absolutely hideous, and I can't stand chair covers!

I've been looking to hire chairs exactly like these! Can I ask where you are getting yours from? Thanks.

To the OP, I personally dislike chair covers and they can make it all look a bit cheap IMO so don't worry about your chairs - I think they look fine as they are. I certainly don't think they are a must have and people's jackets etc are only going to slung over them anyway. Save the money for something else!

I'm also paying a little extra to hire nicer chairs that dont need cover, like the bamboo type above.

I wouldn't cover them I think they are fine as they are. If you wanted to hire the Chiavari chairs as shown in the other pics you would be looking at the same price as chair covers so it is entirely up to you.

You may find that the covers will be more expensive for the armed chairs as they would have to be specially made. Have you asked your venue if they have any other chairs that they use?

    Thanks for all your replies!

The chairs that you are hiring are lovely but I don't think they would fit in the venue, It has dark oak pannelled walls.

And thankyou for sharing your pics, it has put my mind at rest!!
