chair covers

GregorsGirl60, 14 October, 2012 at 19:52 Posted on Planning 0 24

The oh and I originally said we didnt want chair covers as they didnt serve a purpose and could be quite expensive. We saw our venue and they had really pale mocha chair covers in the ceremony room and we requested using these for the reception, which was fine and free of charge. However, we recently went back to the venue when it was set up for a 'Wedding Experience' and they had white chair covers. It looked so light and bright. So know we're not sure.

So basically what does everyone think of chair covers? Are the lycra ones really naff - my oh says theyre like nails on a blackboard. but are the more expensive ones worth it? or shall we stick to our original plan and have ivory sashes to brighten them up?

We arent having them- all the chairs are miss match but we are in a little pub so would look strange to cover them up if you know what I mean.

If you like things to match and have the budget then go with what you like the best.

Ivory on mocha sounds quite nice to me tho Smiley smile

Both the ceremony and the celebrations are in the village hall so we're covering the cheesey chairs but 2 places have offered £1.50 per chair, with bow, so we're happy to pay it.

Not a fan of chair covers because you can't put your feet under them! When I'm sat on a chair for a while, I like to wiggle about abit!

I absolutely hate chair covers - I think they make the chairs look like toilets.

We got quoted £2 per chair - with 130 guests. I do not want to pat £260 to make it look like everyone is sitting on the throne.?

We've decided not to get chair covers because it seems like an unnecessary expense. I almost changed my mind after we went to view the venue and they showed us pics of past weddings which had been held there, all of which had the white chair coverings, not only because they looked good but because it made me wonder if others had viewed the venue chairs as unusable without covers. However, I have since done an internet search of the venue and founds pics of weddings at our venue without covers and they looked just as good. Also when we sat and thought about it, we realised that when we went to a friends wedding just afew weeks ago, we didn't even notice the chairs. The chairs weren't covered in the usual white covers, I know that much but I genuinely paid absolutely no attention to the chairs at either the ceremony or the reception, so I'm assuming my guests will be the same.

We weren't going to have them either as we couldn't afford them in the budget. But our venue said if we booked with them that day, we could have them thrown (throne...haha!) in for free. Oh okay then, if you insist. ?

I think the general consensus on here is that they're horrible. I don't have any particular feelings towards them though. We got them because our venue chairs were really tatty and stained and we couldn't hire other ones in. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise.

We are having chair covers and silk bows in mocha and cream. They look gorgeous. I saw our venue without them and hated it. Think its costing £ 4.95 per chair so quite expensive when we have 140 guests

    ? Wow, that is expensive!

We're not having them, I'm really not a fan.

If I hated the chairs in my venue I'd do what Kharv did and hire nice ones before I'd put chair covers on.

I guess i'm on my own with this. I love chair covers as i like uniformity, plus i didnt like the venue chairs. We had white chair covers with navy blue sashes, no one commented on them but i loved the look. Ours were £3.50 each so came in at £210.

I hate them, and the way that they're becoming one of these wedding "must haves" when, until about 10yrs ago, no-one had ever heard of them here (although I think they have been popular in America for a long long time).

I can't stand chair covers! Would much rather spend the money on an extra drink for each guest! The chairs at our venue are a greeny neutral colour so we're having a colour scheme to compliment that.

Cant say I am a massive fan of them. considering what people charge for what is a bit of material over a chair is ridiculous specially since they are re usable and probably cost about £5 if that to make!!

? I love how such a small part of the day can have such a big and diverse reaction. Of the 2 weddings (apart from mine) I've been to as an adult I genuinely couldn't tell you if either of them even had chair covers and I was a bridesmaid at one of them.

If you like chair covers have them, if you don't then don't.

We'll have chair covers if yhe chairs are horrible, as we have decided our colour scheme already! but won't waste the money if we don't need to!
