chair covers - self tie or normal with sash?!?! pls help me decide!!

kookik, 10 May, 2012 at 23:57 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hey all,

I'm having a debate with myself. I found some chair covers I really like - they are self tie

sorry can't post pic but here's a link

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-NEW-WEDDING-PARTY-SATIN-UNIVERSAL-SELF-TIE-CHAIR-COVER-RESTAURANT-SALE-/160705304650?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Decorative_Accents_LE&var=&hash=item6b1cb7ad8c

it costs about 280 for 100 but they come from india so have no idea what customs charge will be.

if I get the normal chair cover (not lycra) with sashes thats about 350 total. Now I want to resell them after the wedding but I'm worried that the self tie ones might not be so easy to sell as the regular ones. I know I might not make all the money back and there is also the risk of the customs charge being astronomical.

what you think ladies advice pls! muchos gracias in advance

Hi, I can't see the link (ebay is blocked at work, boo) but have you thought about hiring chair covers? Mine cost £200 for 100 guests...the prices you have been quoted seem a tad high to me. Re customs charge, I've never bought anything from India over the web myself but have had things posted or shipped to me by people who live in India and have never had to pay customs charge.

I would rather buy because then I can resell after and make most of the money bac - which overall would work out cheaper than the hiring.

every time I go on ebay there are chair covers for resell and they go very quickly. But I'm concerned because I've never seen the self tie ones on there before - only selling from India!

Even for 100 chair covers your looking at about £70-£100 delivery maybe more.

    my advice:

    book chair cover hire

    or

pay more in the first place and buy them from the uk

Self tie chair covers looks nice but its very hard to resell them. Try Spandex Lycra bands instead of them.

    Find these bands @ http://www.chaircoverdepot.co.uk/cat/41/spandex-lycra-bands/

If you do decide to buy the covers, after taking the delivery and custom charges into consideration. I'd suggest the traditional cover with sash, personally I have never been a fan of the self tie covers.

I wish you the best of luck xx
