Change of colour scheme

Yorkbridetobe, 24 November, 2010 at 11:26 Posted on Planning 0 31

I was just wondering wether or not these colours will go or not......

I am getting married on rememberance day, but not planning on having a rememberance day theme as I find that a bit morbid if I am totally honest. As it is Autumn my original idea of Turqouise seems a bit to cold, I then thought of Cadburys purple but think that this would be a bit off with me being pale skin edand dark haired. So we have come up with Pillarbox red and accents of black.

Do you think this would be an alright colour?

(Honest opinions please). xx

What do YOU think? That's what matters!

(what I would say though is if you want to stay away from anything to do with Remembrance Day, pillar box (or poppy!) red with a hint of black would be a no go).

Red will look great with your dark hair. What about a sort of autumnal thing of reds, oranges, greens? I dont think anyone will click with rememberance day and red bridesmaid dresses or table decorations!

As CB says Red & Black would scream Poppy day to me. If it is an Autumn wedding then warm tones, Browns, Oranges, Golds will be perfect. Or use earthy tones of Brown & Green.

I would have loved to have had a black and red colour scheme but my OH hates red.

I think it would look lovely but you would have to careful about poppy thing.

How about emerald green or ultramarine blue? Sounds like either of those would go with your colouring.

    Any colour you want!

If you are not acknowledging poppy day (although I think poppies would make a beautiful theme in November and you may find people wear them anyway - imho not morbid, but respectful) then avoid red. Although you could have a mix of poppy colours...

Your turquoise theme is perfectly ok for November.

Or you could go with oranges, pinks, purples, greens, blues.... get the picture! What do you like? What is your favourite colour?

TBH if i went to a wedding in November and the colour was red it wouldn't even cross my mind about rememberance day.

I know what people are saying about red and black screaming poppy day but that last board of Sherries is lovely I think done like that where red is more of the accent colour to a black and white theme wouldnt put me in mind of rememberance day at all x

My colour scheme is black and white with cherry red and silver accents. I think Poppies are beautiful and would make a great contribution to the wedding, its also a huge nod of respect and everyone WILL wear them anyway so that will tie evrything together.

This is my moodboard so far, were also having a movie theme, as you may guess!

I think Red & Black can be elegant, but also don't see the problem with it being Poppy Day, it is a day to be proud not morbid at all.
