Change of favours late in the day!

*Mini*, 11 July, 2011 at 18:42 Posted on Planning 0 7

As you well know we were planning to have vintage teacups as our favours- we were going to have them as the place settings and then people could take them home with them as a souvenier [sp]

So with just over 2 months to go I am 27 teacups short [Thanks Sange for the ones you sent ? Plan B is that we look at maybe filling the teacups with sweeties instead and then we can hire some of the teacups we are missing? Plus I can then decorate my grotty pre fab in an abundance of vintage paraphinalia once we are married and pretend that we dont live in a depressing 1960's semi.

What do you think- do you think that a few sweets is OK as a favour? Would be interested to know what you all have.

I think that is a great idea, as then you get to keep a nice eclectic mix of vintage teacups that you have already bought

The traditional favours are five sugared almonds - so they aren't far from being 'sweets' really.

    Sounds fine to me tbh.

I think sweets are fine as favours, but then I flipping love any type of sweets tbh! We are getting married abroad and have decided that sweets and heat wont necessarily mix, we have decided to give people sandalwood fans instead.

Sweets would be a lovely idea...but I do love the idea of tea cups too! Have you thought about giving the lovely vintage tea cups to (might be ebing sexist here!!) just the women? Or the women and men who would like a tea cup and maybe something different for others? Would you have enough tea cups then?

    WSS!

Yes, sweets are a nice favour alone and they will be eaten and appreciated. You could give away teacups only to ladies (though that might get a bit confusing if you are giving the cups to everyone to drink from but only giving away half- you would have to think about how you would do that)- I am only giving favours to ladies.

Sounds lovely. Would be nice to just give them to the women. Maybe in a nice little bag on the way out like a party bag?! We're not having favours at all so can't comment much else!

I think its fine to have sweets as favours, you could cut circles of lace and put the sweets in and tie with ribbon then sit them in the teacups, we (well my dad) is makng homemade jam for our favours so we just need to buy the little jars and i've got lots of material to cover the lids and tie with raffia.

Would it be clear to your guests that the cup wasn't included as part of the favour ? I think sweets would be fine or as someone said just give the cups to the ladies ?
