Changing later in the day?

lovelygirl, 19 January, 2011 at 20:18 Posted on Planning 0 29

I am beginning to worry that i am going to be too hot in my dress, and will want a change of dress for the evening after the wedding breakfast into something shorter? Will you stay in the same dress all day or do you plan to change into something that will be easier to dance in? (I overheat and faint so for me i am going to have a standby dress but hoping to get a new special one)

i agree, i'd try and get as much use out of your dress as possible but then dont feel uncomfortable on YOUR day so do what you think is best for you

Nope, wont be changing, I'm going to wear my dress for as long as I possibly can, I haven't waited this long to only wear it a few hours. Luckily its very comfortable to wear, eat in etc so I will be fine.

I'm going to wear my dress all day!!! There may be difficulty with going to the bathroom as it's a big princessy dress lol! But I'm not paying £1200 to only wear it for a couple of hours!!

Brides changing is my biggest nightmare. I have very poor eyesight and have to switch between two pairs of glasses, so when DJing, I tend to put the close ups on the end of my nose and peep over the top when looking at distances....and just see blurry blobs. A white blob wafting around is my saving grace....as I know its the bride!!

I know....really feeble reason for not changing!!!!!

I admit my dress is not the most comfortable- its big and the beading on the bodice does irritate under my arms BUT its gorgeous and I am staying in it.

Same for veil- I intend on keeping this on too!

I'm getting married in July so hopefully it will be hot! But no way am I changing out of my dress!! It's the most expensive dress I've ever bought, I am a bride and I want everyone to see me in it!

Could you not get a chic little hand fan or something that would compliment your dress?

How about getting one of those big wedding dresses from "My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding" complete with "split" (ie, giant gap) in the middle?

I am seriously tempted to change as well - knowing our lot, it is highly likely we'll end up being thrown in lake Geneva at 6am the next morning, and hence I am wondering if a second white dress would be a sensible idea....

I got married on one of the hottest days of the year and I kept my dress on ALL day! Hell, when else would I get to swish about in it ?

I actually didn't really feel the heat on the day - unlike the guests ?

If i can find a bargain evening dress i might keep it in my room as a stand by just because i don't think i could manage the toilet in my dress especiallly after a couple of glasses of wine not that i'm planning on getting drunk, i'm just a major light weight lol!

I intend to keep mine on all day. Only get to wear it once after all.

As for feeling hot, it probably won't be that bad, and you'll be wearing a light colour!

I'm considering getting changed, purely for the fact that my reception and wedding are not on the same day so I don't want to risk spilling drinks etc on it later on when I'm tipsy, when I intend to wear it again a few weeks later!

Will most definately not be changing! I love my dress and want to wear it as long as possible...im going to have a kit of mini deodorant, wipes etc so I can freshen up throughout if I do get a really hot day .... but July is generally a wet month in Northern Ireland! I'll probably get a manky humid day but I will be in such a high I wont eve notice! Smiley smile

I think you'd have to pin me down and physically remove it from me to get it off!!! I told OH I may even sleep in it - bless him you should of seen his face ?

I'm really looking forward to it, I'm not very girly and I'm really looking forward to getting all dressed up and being ultimately girly for the whole day - plus as others have said I'll never get to wear it again...

I won't be as I want to wear it all day, but one of my friends did. She wore her dress until the evening bit then changed into a more comfortable (yet lovely) dress in its place. She wanted to dance and couldn't do it in her wedding dress.

Its a bit diffrent for me growing up in two diffrent cultures. I always dreamed of my sparkly red asian outfit and OH always dreamed of a bride coming down the aisle in white.

I'm a bit greedy so have gone for both. White dress during day and red in the evening.

I realy do need an excuse to wear them again though...

How about Hitched brides day? We could all get dressed up and meet at a diffrent persons house each year? Would be so funny!

Agree with others, in that I want to wear my dress as much as possible.

But i will be taking an extra pair of flat shoes, that I'll be getting one of the bridesmaids to hide in their handbags.
