Changing mobile number of a contract

Knownowt, 30 June, 2009 at 14:32 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

Background- I have a PAYG phone, my husband has a contract with Virgin which he only entered into a couple of months ago.

His employer has just changed their policy on business mobile use, meaning that H can now use his work mobile for personal calls. He therefore doesn't need his personal mobile any longer, but is committed to it for another 10 months. So it makes sense for me to give up my PAYG phone and take over his contract. However, I don't want to change my number- I've had it for years. Is it possible to get a PUK code from one's mobile supplier and give it to another supplier in the middle of a contract, or is that only possible right at the start?

I don't see why not - they still get your money so no big deal. Actually, I don't recall that there's a time limit for giving your PAC code at the start of a contract so I'm sure it would be fine.

It does depend on network, the network I work for doesnt allow this (not Virgin), but then they dont issue temporary numbers either like some networks.
