Not so much a character, Roald Dahl's Tale of the Unexpected used to frighten the bejesus out of me. I loved it. The television adaptation of Day of The Triffids too. I would imagine that they are laughably bad if you looked at them now. I'd quite like to see them again.

The Daleks. Silly since I'm such a huge Doctor Who fan, but they terrified me as a child.

The dungeon master dude from Knightmare (the VR game show). Even when I watch repeats as an adult, it really freaks me out.

I never had a problem with Willo the Whisp as a kid - but it really freaked me out when I watched it as an adult. I had to switch the video off and have never watched it again.

There used to be a horrible skull like alien at the end of the credits for Star Trek - I always made sure I was out of the room by that point!

I can't remember the name of the programme but it was on at lunchtime and people were dressed up as animals - lions, tigers etc. I was terrified and my mum had to take me into the kitchen so my sister could watch it. This was probably 1978/9.

I had a vague idea it was called that but not 100%. It was my sister's favourite programme and she rushed home from school at lunchtime to watch it. She hated me! ?

FAAARRRRKKK!!!! Evil Edna lived in my lampshade!!! Oh, I pretty much pooped myself on a nightly basis at the though of the ariel-based wrath she'd release upon me!

D&G less scary - but I think I had a cartoon crush on that Merlin dood [and let's just forget Dogtanian and the Three Muskahounds at this point...].

The Wheelies in Return to Oz, they scared the cr@p out of me and I only had to hear the noise when we were watching it to be hiding behind the sofa.

My worst was when I was about 4 or 5 though and it wasn't a character from TV, it was one I'd made up/ imagined. His name was Slagum and I had a bad dream about him, he was kind of a scary hobo/tramp type person who wheedled his way into our house and then grew and grew until he was bigger than the house. I repeated this all to my little brother who then couldn't sleep for about a week - his sleep wasn't great anyway due to epilepsy, so you can imagine my mum really thanked me for that!

    Me too.

    And the witch in Terrahawks.

And anything on Doctor Who? Which still scares me stupid now, even though I love it.

And um, Tom and Jerry. Oh yes, I was a ridiculously oversensitive child.?

    Me too he terrified me!

I also hated Worzel Gummage, he scared me.

I also had a bogeyman living under my bed and the sofa too that would grab my ankles if I put my feet on the floor, it was made worse when we used to have those long power cuts in the 70s when everything was dark and we lived by candlelight!
