Chasing RSVP's

bec84, 10 August, 2009 at 14:05 Posted on Planning 0 15

How long before I can start ringing / texting people telling them they need to reply!!!!?

I had an RSVP date of 7th Aug, and I'm still waiting on 18 RSVPs....how should I go about rounding up those who haven't replied?! A lot of them are H2B's friends and family, so I can't exactly ring them myself and H2B just keeps saying he'll talk to them.

They have had invites since start of June, so I'm just getting stressed now as I have a B list if I need to make up the numbers, but if they all reply yes I won't have any spaces for the B list!

Bloody Guest Lists!

I'd be doing it now - you need to know! And its after the RSVP date. I will probably chase those on OH's side as well as he won't see the same urgency in it as me so I would rather do it myself.

I just didn't want to seem like I was being really pushy since I don't tend to ring them!

Think I need to speak to H2B tonight to push him to ring his outstanding people....

The only thing we really argue about is like say when OH has to speak to his parents about arranging something & he leaves it to the last possible moment! I know I should just do it myself but part of me doesn't want to wade in there and over ride the r'ship he has with his parents IYSWIM.

For the wedding though I shall definitely be taking control of RSVPs and guest contact - the way I see it is the wedding is 50% to do with me so if people think its strange I am chasing them for RSVPs then why are they coming to my wedding? Not meant in a me, me, me way - I can be quite shy so wouldn't necessarily pick up the phone to OH's friends but I think this will be one instance when I do.

    Its really frustrating isn't it!

One of those who have nto RSVP'd is his Dad, and his Grandparents on that side! His parents are seperated and I don't really know his dad well enough to call. OH has only recently started to have a relationship with his dad at the mo so I can see this might be an awkward conversation.......

Ive included stamped and addressed postcards with my invites to try to encourage people to RSVP with firm yes/no... I hope it helps, I only sent them today. if they still dont RSVP I think I'll be even more cross though due to wasting money on those extra stamps!

Good idea serafina..but bet you will stll get stragglers.

I've had lots of verbal yes's and i may have to take it like that. & the evening ones im not even going there with. Thing is they would all moan if they werent on table plan/catered for, for the sake of two seconds dropping an RSVP in post (we had little slips in with our invites) you would have thought people would make more effort hey

    Hi,

I am a Wedding Planner, my company would be more than happy to compile a letter to chase your RSVP's for you, this way coming from a company people will respond and we have a option to make it imposible for them not to reply in a fun way!

Please email me at ****@******************.**.**, i hope we can help!

Good luck on your special day!

    Regards

    Sarah Andrews

Ooh, not sure how guests would take that! I know it's rude not to respond but sending an official letter from a third party all sounds a bit official and 'debt collection agency' ish

Bec, just ring them all - his side or yours. Tell them you're sorry to chase, but you have a deadline by which you have to give numbers to the venue and you need to know if they're going to attend. I did this when 6 of H's family hadn't RSVPd by the deadline. Do what you have to do.

Oh i see, not sure why not? i can see it's now appeared!

I am both a Bride and a listed supplier, if i can help anyone out then thats my aim, i want to be able to help the normal Bride, with normal budgets, who need guidance and don't want to book suppliers who have not been recommended, as i was stung during my planning!
