Cheap Honeymoon in Paris??

morristobe, 5 December, 2012 at 10:55 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi ladies

I am looking for honeymoon inspiration but we are on a really tight budget. We live in Worcestershire and are considering booking our honeymoon in Paris. Has anyone any nice but cheap reccomendations on hotels, areas or things to do? We have ever been and think it would be lovely and romantic. We would probably be looking to fly from Birmingham or possibly getting the eurostar from London depending which works out cheaper.

Thanks ladies xx

I'm afraid I've not got any hotel recommendations for you but here are a few "off the beaten track" things

We went to a beaufiful restaurant called le petit cours - it was amazing!

Georges (restaurant) in Centre Pompidou - very trendy and a great location but the food was expensive and not that special - all of the waitresses were at least 6ft tall - scary!

Colette (world's most trendy shop) on Rue St Honore -

La Duree (restaurant and macaroon tea rooms) on Champs Elysees -
    Napoleonic interior -

Cafe Le Flores (famous classical French cafe) -

Cafe Les Deux Magots (same as above and about 3-4 doors down - both very iconic) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Deux_Magots -
We went here for lunch and it was nice

Fauchon (very cool delicatessen...not your normal deli...like harrods but
more stylish and worth the visit...good for cool gifts) in Place Madeleine -
great shop - nice restaurant there too and good cafe for all different sorts of eclairs!

Hotel Costes (one of Paris' most trendy hotels...good for an evening drink
with gal-dem Julie dem) on Rue St Honore -
very nice! Went for one drink - looked like a nice restaurant there too

Spend some time walking down Rue St Honore (Paris' equivalent of Bond St)

VIP Room - Paris' best club - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Wa8QF8gqCQ

Maison Troisgros - amazing 3 michelin starred restaurant (but quite
    pretentious and super expensive) -

    I have stayed in Hotel Formule1 hotels before. Cheap and cheerful, bit like EasyHotels here;

Pere lachaise cemetery is a good few hours out, totally free and beautiful. You can sight see pretty easily around Paris. Grab a train ticket and go! I found it very easy to navigate around. Obviously going inside attractions costs, but you can stand beside the Eiffel Tower and take tons of photos or go inside Notre Dame!

Hotel Verneuill in St Germain is very fair for how likely it is. It's just over the river from The Louvre.

Are you going in summer - if so you can do plenty!

Cafe dux Magots is a great place for an expensive breakfast but you can visit a bakery and pick up coffee to enjoy on Pont des Arts.

L'orangerie on Ile de la Cite is a very fair place for dinner or you can grab street food and enjoy the street performers near Notre Dame.

Laduree on Rue Bonaparte is divine for lunch but you could visit the Marche Couvert near Jardin du Luxembourg for fresh picnic food and take it to sit under the Tour de Eiffell.

You can enjoy a bottle of white on the roof bar of Galaries Lafayette or sup a bottle of red on one of the many bridges that come alive on an evening.

Can you tell I hold a special place in my heart for Paris?!

I wouldn't necessarily put Paris and Cheap in the same sentence.

    Hi,

We went on a long weekend for my 21st a few years ago. We found that you can pretty much walk the whole of Paris instead of getting the emtro which was cheaper- flat shoes needed.

My one recommendation is Restaurant Chartier which is AMAZING! It's very Paris- very Art Deco, very popular with parisians and very cheap.

Here's picture from when we went:

Other than that we wandered through the parks and people watched- a very cheap way to pass a day!

We stayed at the Novotel near the Gare de Lyon during our trip last year. It wasn't particularly romantic but fairly cheap, clean, modern etc and the location was great for the metro.
