Cheap venues in the UK?

PinkLady3, 15 January, 2013 at 18:26 Posted on Planning 0 12

After looking at venues around Oxfordshire, me and OH are now prepared to wed elsewhere in the UK as Ox is SO expensive!

Can anyone recommend any cheap venues?

Thanks Smiley smilex

    What's the budget?

What type of venues are you looking for?

How many guests are you planning to have attend?

is £4-5k just for venue of whole wedding?

Sorry so many questions just don't want to suggest places that are out of budget or too big/small.

Take a look at Marriott hotels. many do inclusive deals which get even better if the wedding isn't a weekend.....

If you're looking for somewhere to have the whole day, as opposed to church then reception, get lists of licensed venues from registrars in counties that interest you. My UK reception venue is licensed, for example, with separate ceremony and reception rooms and the option of using their catering, and would easily cost less than your budget.

Are you not constrained by location at all?

I can recommend a few, mostly here in the South, would that help?

Is this the budget just for the venue?

Are you fussy about what day of the week you marry on? A Friday or Sunday wedding can cause quite a significant drop in prices at most weddings - it's worth asking as if you can marry on another day (as opposed to the traditional Saturday) you can see venues that were once out of budget seem a lot more affordable...worth considering!

A friend of mine is getting married at a lovely Holiday Inn near us, they do packages starting at £1500 and their most expensive is £3000, and this was for a pretty decent number of guests, I can't remember how many though off the top of my head! You can get some really fancy Holiday Inn's so this might be worth a research x

Maybe request updates when this deal becomes available (or any of the others that groupon do around the country).

    Hi PinkLady3,

My OH and I are also looking for venues around Oxfordshire/Gloucestershire and are coming up against the same hurdles. I've found a couple of more reasonably priced venues in the area:

Fison Barn at Wittenham Clumps (good if you want to put your own stamp on things as you have to bring in all your own decor/catering etc) http://www.earthtrust.org.uk/Celebrate/Wedding_receptions.aspx

Merriscourt at Sarsden, Chipping Norton (cute rustic barn but more fairly priced than some Oxfordshire barns.....I'm considering this for my venue) http://www.merriscourt.com/contact.html

To find these, I had to navigate through to search page 5 or 6 of Google, they weren't immediately obvious...so keep digging Smiley smile

    Hope this helps!
