My dress and all the bits I will wearing came in way over budget but I wouldn't of been happy with anything else. Our TOG was also another big extravagance as we had budgeted £750 but we went for the best package they do it came to £1525. Our opinion was that the wedding day would come and go but the pictures would last a life time.

Flowers were WAY more expensive than I realised, but other things balanced it out. finding our BM dresses in a shop that is reasonably priced (unlike some) meant i could pay for the dresses jewellery and alterations for the girls and getting a good deal on our wedding cars helped shake it up a bit and it all settled.

Its the little things that will take us over...presents for the wedding party etc...

We had no idea what weddings cost so exceeded what are original budget was. Flowers were more expensive than I realised but my preloved dress was under budget. The only extras were the 20 rooms we prebooked and had to pay for and the cost is deducted off our bill as guests start to book their rooms, I just pray they get booked or we will give them to guesets free as no point in wasting money and the VOG which we weren't going to have.

Seconded. It is a beautiful dress and worth every penny Smiley smile

We didn't really set a budget as such, we just wanted to ensure we got value for money with each thing we chose to have. However, possibly due to not knowing how much certain things cost, we've ended up spending more than we expected on photography (20% more than our rough guess) and flowers. However, we're happy with the overspend, because we have every confidence in our suppliers Smiley smile

We went way over on the venue as we fell in love with it and then couldn't not have the wedding there. It will be worth it though, hopefully. We're also over budget on the honeymoon, but that's not really in the wedding budget so it doesn't matter too much. And the rings were quite pricy, but we didn't have a budget for those, I was allowed to spend as much as I wanted, within reason. (I think had I picked a £20,000 ring I would have been told to jog on, but OH took the view that the ring was going to be worn every day, forever, so it should be something I really loved.)

Same here! We have 7 Bridesmaids, and their dresses were about £300 each! I only budgeted for about £100, but they all fell in love with this particular dress and I couldnt say no! ? x

    WSS!

Also went over budget on honeymoon and rings, but flowers were cheaper than I thought, then family offered to pay for our cake, then my mum bought my dress, so we came in under what we expected. However I just keep increasing the 'budget' on the hitched list so it looks like less! In actual fact we're about 5k over what we wanted to pay when we first got engaged!

Ours is the venue, we decided we loved it and was worth the extra 2k than we budgeted for... but we were lucky that we have it so wasn't a big issue, just need to wait a couple more months before we can sell our house!

We went way over on the Venue hire and Marquee- about double our budget. We did sit down and work out the mathes before we booked and we did like one that was in our budget, but just not quite as much. Anyway, we decided it was worth the extra and I don't regret that decision. Everything else has come in on or below budget.

Originally we had £600 in the budget for our band...OH thought this was realistic, whereas I knew that bands would be mega bucks if we wanted a good one. Anyway, we found a decent one that has a playlist which is right up our street, plays in central London on a regular basis and has entertained some Z list celeb at their wedding. We haggled them down from £1200 to £900 and we've managed to up their set time too. We took a bit of a gamble and put down a deposit before we actually went to check them out (btw they lived up to our expectations). Fingers crossed, the band will get the evening reception going...and keep it that way til midnight.

We started of with a reasonable budget (i think) - everything inclusive except for wedding dress/groom's outfit/ring/BM's outfit

The very first thing that blew our budget is the venue! The venue cost the budget itself which entails other unexpected expenses such as chair covers, dance floor hire, super expensive flowers (though very simple), venue service charge, stationeries... and a barrel of beer!

So what are those that are within budget? wedding dress, groom's outfit, bm's outfit, ring

so i can only conclude, it's the area!!!

Jen Jen i started with a cheap ring budget, now we have the same view as u and it's one of the few things that we will have forever, rings and photo's so therefor rings can be expensive. We not picked ours yet tho!

TOG is probably going to be overbudget if we go for the better package.

OH's ring was more than I thought he'd spend, but it is lovely

All in all, assuming I don't go mad on the little bits and bobs, I've got £1500 before I'm over my total budget ?
