I know it raises loads of money for charity and does great work and all that but the TV side of it has been going on for so many years it's stale and I'm afraid I'm bored of it. And I'm really not all that excited about my dentist wearing a wig to dress up like someone from Grease. I do give money...

I do give money every year, but I do know I'm a miserable old cow. Flame away.

After 20 odd years of CiN my 17 year old can't understand why I don't want to watch it. She says "it's really gr8t". Well maybe it is if you have only sat throught a couple but 20 years!!. I never watched a drop of it last night, but still managed to contribute.

Terry Wogan is an arse on the radio and not much better on the telly!

They do Sport Relief alread though, don't they?

I wonder what audience it is aimed at? I think maybe they try to give it too broad an appeal and end up pleasing nobody.

I saw about 4 minutes of the QI bit last night, but couldn't take any more

Tel made me want to gouge all my sense organs out with a rusty spoon in the hope that I'd never have to see or hear him ever again - or god forbid ever have to smell, touch or taste him

I'm on the grumpy bench too, I don't watch it at all anymore, I just find it too cringeworthy.

I do get all your point about its the same format etc. But at the end of the day they have raised £20M in one night. Which is amazing. So yes it can be boring, but it works......

But is a lot of that just from having the event itself, not necessarily the tv show? So, if you had Children in Need kept as a day, for fundraising, and promoted etc and then had some decent programmes with a bit of begging for cash in between, that might raise just as much

The only bit of CiN I watched last night was the QI programme, and only because I love QI. I don't mind them taking over BBC1. It's only one night a year. The thing that bothers me is that the other channels don't even try and compete with it! The programmes on all the mainstream channels last night were pants. It's about time they woke up and realised there are people who do contribute to CiN, but don't want to watch the bloody programme!

Lenny Henry just makes me cringe thinking of the time I got drunk and thought I was impressing my friends with my fabulous musical knowledge as I held forth at length about the music of Lenny Hendrix ?

He's about as funny as syphillis though. Delbert Wilkins ?
