Children's party bags

ladyzoot, 31 July, 2012 at 16:15 Posted on Planning 0 18

Hello,

I will have 14 children coming to the wedding aged between 2 and 9, so I want to do little party bags for them to keep them occupied. I'm just looking for some inspiration - what have others put in theirs and where did you buy it? I don't want to spend too much, but so far I can only think of crayons/pencils and colouring books! Any suggestions welcome. xxx

Yep you're on the right lines there! Depends on ages I guess, but colouring is always a safe bet! Wordsearches and spot the difference type things also good, there are free activity books online that you can print out. May also be worth finding out what the older ones are into- for instance my 7yr old nephew is mad on football and collects the cards so I will get him a couple of packs of them, and maybe an annual for the team he supports as he's a bit old for colouring.

Poundland/99p stores are great for little bargains Smiley smile

I got all my bits from Tesco Party, worked out at about £2/head including the bags.

Older ones (4+) had mini tic tac toe, mini connect 4, slide puzzle, mini playing cards, puzzle book and pen.

Younger ones (under 4) had a puzzle, mini soft toy, colouring book, crayons and stickers.

Have you tried the photobooth prop shop ? They do "Decorate your own" activities for kids.

We have over 20 children aged 2-8 coming to ours. I've done girls and boys party bags for ages 2-4, and 5-8 (so 4 different types).

All of them have: colouring pencils, colouring / puzzle book, slider puzzles, those large punch balloons, love heart candy lipstick, magic slates.

    In addition to the above

younger boys have: dinosaur finger puppet and a mini pull-back car.

Older boys have: those self assembly glider planes and some football cards.

Younger girls have: wand and tiara set and a paper fan.

Older girls have: Hello Kitty necklace and a funky notebook.

Party bags are mini cloth bags from cleverbaggers.com, and in total I've spent about £65. Not too bad, I reckon, for 22 little people.

I saw in a Pound World a pack of 2 mini magna-doodles for, you guessed it, £1. I'm going to grab a couple to put aside for my wedding as they're great for any ages 3+. We're also going to do colouring/acticity books, some toy cars for older boys and little dolls with brushes etc (all from the pound shops) for the older girls. The yougest ones I might just get some little rattly things as they always love to make noise and probably take along some Duplo we already have x

Only thing to bear in mind with putting `action` toys in the bags (cars/planes etc) is that I've seen weddings where the kids were running everywhere with them, I thought they were having a great time, but you could hear some of the `older` guests moaning about it!

    Hope that helps!

What about some candies? Share your happies and luckness with these children. Or you can make a survey in advance, what they want, then give them a surprise。 You can search on little party bags on the internet, there are a lot of cheap and cute bags specially designed for children.

I agree 100% - nothing noisy or messy will be going in! If it had been just my decision I would have said no kids at all, but my OH loves kids so now we have loads coming - I hope they will be well behaved ?

I think this is a very good warning, although we're ok as we have loads of outside space, and some nursery staff on hand to play with/supervise the children so we think we can contain the mayhem - ours a family day and is as much about the children as it is about our other guests (we have 2 children - I can see why those without their own may feel differently about this!)?

    Hi

Kids used to drive me mad but since having my own I love them! We have 6 coming to our small wedding various ages. I've gone for crayons, colouring etc for all ages. In the two older girls I put a magnetic tin with dress up dolls in and those mini suprise bags with Squinkies. The boys have sticker books and some super hero stuff. I would like a little extra for the boys but like people before said I've ruled out a lot of cars and planes! Also a few sweets (decided to avoid chocolate in best clothes).

I saw these on ebay and thought they were really good (just too many for what I need). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-JOB-LOTS-of-10x-30014-LEGO-CITY-Sets-POLICE-HELICOPTER-policeman-minifigure-/271019507524?pt=UK_Construction_Toys_Kits&hash=item3f1a057f44

I have bought nearly all my stuff from Home Bargains - love it. I've also bought some Calico fabric and am going to make bags with their names hand stamped onto them.

I was thinking stickers but my venue has already said we can only hang decs on the picture frames so didn't want the little ones getting their hands on the stickers and ruining the walls! Lol

i'm planning to tailor them a bit - some extra colouring bits for the younger kids (different for the boys and girls) and some extra wordsearches etc for the older ones. Found some websites that have print off activity pages on. Just really liked the front page and the bow and seemed easier than making them from scratch myself!

I had little party boxes with a book that I designed with puzzles, pictures to colour in (pencils not pens to save the linen!), soft toys for the younger ones, stickers, and for the older ones a disposable camera and list of Eye Spy things to photograph.

I didn't put sweets in there as I didn't want to unwittingly upset any parents who wouldn't want to give them sweets.

We had three boys - 4, 6, 11 to cater for. We had things like colouring books, coloured pencils, crossword, quiz, dot to dot, wordsearch boooks (dependent on age), disposable cameras and eye spy sheets - which they loved!!- wind up toy cars, foam planes, sticker books, sketchbook and pencils for the older one, wire puzzels (that you get in cracker!), cards, bubbles, animal masks which they also loved and wore for ages - we got great photos of them wearing them - and other bits I can't remember now. My nana made drawstring bags for them with boats on (water theme) and their initial. The younger ones use the bags at school for pumps and stuff.

Other ideas are craft kits - friendship bracelets that kind of thing, magic tricks, playing cards, snap cards, stickers, frisbee if you have space outdoors, tiara&dressing up type things, nail art, etc.

We didn't put in sweet as there were sweets on the table and we figured there would be plenty of food that we wanted them to eat rather than filling up on sweets.
