Chimney Sweep

Meltdown, 16 October, 2013 at 23:28 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

We are looking to get our chimney swept for the first time since we moved here in May.

Never having had a chimney before now i have no idea what the going rate is. How much have other Otters paid to have a basic open fire swept, and how long after you called the sweep did they come round?

I am sooooo looking forward to having our first open fire!

They are quite busy at this time of the year! We had our wood burner done in September cost 45 quid and we waited two weeks for a Saturday slot.

Although I live in the posh sticks and there are a lot of sweeps in my area (and aga repair men...) so you may be more limited in sweeps.

WE had ours done not too long ago and I think it was around £50-60 but it was the first time it had been done in 30years as the previous owners capped the fire and never used it. We removed the cap ourselves so the sweep was just cleaning it and checking if it was sound to use. I had it done in the summer as they are very busy at the moment.

Finally did find a sweep, he is here at the moment. for some reason i thought a sweep would be a middle aged man.

he is what can only be described as a fitty, probably about 28 and a muscle! yummy.

I think I may need my chimney swept quite often....! (all puns intended!)

OH is picking up some logs on his way home so we can have a fire tonight! yay!
