I am thinking of using these as well.

I have found this company http://asianideas.com/ they look quite cheap and if I remember correctly they ship to the UK. Not ordered from them though so can't tell you what the quality is like!

We are thinking about having these too. Look on that good old UK auction site - there's loads on there! I was looking at 20 lanterns for about £40. I was quite surprised about how big they are too!

    Hey bluewater

I bought them but didn't let them off in the end because the weather wasn't good. Sat in a box in my spare room now waiting for me to sell them ?

Having problems with the PM for some reason but they were from this company http://www.fiestaskylanterns.com/index.php5?action=laterns and i think i have about 47 but i would have to count them to make sure. The are quite big. I was surprised when i saw them but i suppose they have to be for you to see them when they float up into the sky.

I used them for my wedding and they were brilliant. I bought mine from a company called skycandle and I think it was about £100 for 60 - best money I've spent!

There's some pictures near the end (try page 14) on my professional pics if you want to see: kathryn and mark - password Friend

Each venue is different, think it depends on how rural they are. We planned to have them, but our company ceased trading and didn't fancy letting them off ourselves, as thought we'd have enough to worry about. We got our deposit back though.

Turns out fate did us a favour, it rained all day so we'd never have let them off and we were an hour behind schedule so doubt we'd have had the time either. But I do think they're lovely!

It was in our local paper that residents thought they'd spotted UFOs last summer over Sheffield and had phoned the police. I said at the time that I bet it was sky lanterns and sure enough the following week the paper sheepishly admitted they'd found out it was ?

The venue were fine as it was quite remote, the wedding co-ordinator was quite escited about them infact.

I think safety wise you have to be at least 5 miles away from an airport, not near a major road and the wind has to be less than 5mph.

We also had to buy a bunch of lighters to enable people to light them but it all went quite smoothly apart from some people lighting them upside down and some releasing them before they'd fully inflated. It was quite funny seeing the carnage - some even ended up in trees but nothing set on fire thank god ?

They look lovely, but I bet our venue wouldn't let us have them. We're getting married at a national trust property, and they won't even let us have tea lights! So I can't imagine them being very keen on that idea!

Hope they work out for those that want them!
