chocolate centerpieces - *updated with flash*

janey2000, 2 September, 2010 at 10:39 Posted on Planning 0 9

This is my first flash so sorry if it has come out huge or something!

I have seen these on an australian site and aren't they fantastic!

I am doing my own centrepieces and love this idea but don't have much of an idea of how to do it. any one know? I have found some UK companies that do similar but they are so expensive I couldn't afford it. I already have my vases and don't know if they would work with this as they are tall (about 30 cm high). What do the sticks stick into? If I use my vases what can is use to stop all the stuff inside showing on the outside (vases are clear)

Thanks and sorry if I sounds dumb!

A word of warning, what time of year are you getting married? Chocolate & heat don't mix!

Also once the guests have taken the sweets you will be left with a bare table centre.

    Yum..

Farrero Roche... My absolute all time FAV!!

They really look good. I agree with Sherrie though, make sure they arent going to melt if you are getting married i nthe summer or if the room will be heated in the winter. You will also need to mix in something non edible so it still looks good once all the choccies have been eaten.

A vase with some florist foam/sponge would work well for these and the chocolates attached to the end of sticks.

    Hi

I am not very creative but Im hoping to make a small Ferrero Rocher tree as part of our sweetie buffet.

How I intend to do it (and this may not be the best way because I'm no pro) is to use "oasis" floral form, if you google it a pic will come up they sell it cheaply in places like Hobbycraft and then stick the ferrero rochers onto it somehow (maybe with cocktail sticks). The problem is that once a few have been taken it will look ruined pretty quickly but I think it is a good talking point at a wedding.

Depending on when your wedding is sweeties like Ferrero Rocher are normally reduced just after Xmas which is when Im thinking of buying ours (provided the sell by date will last in time for a wedding in early April).

Sorry this is not a definitive answer but hopefully it gives you some pointers? xx

Wedding is October so can't see them being any more likely to melt than having chocolate favors on the tables?

I wouldn't go to a wedding an immiedatly tuck into the centrepiece so would assume others would not touch it or eat it at the end when I wouldn't mind if it was bare as no one even notices them drunk and dancing?!

Ohh that floral foam makes me feel ill (like polystyrene or scratching fingers on a blackboard!). But they do different colours so I could use white.

The best way to do it would be to cover Oasis with some kind of foil paer in your colour scheme as this won't rip & tear as easily as normal paper. The Oasis can be cut to size to fit the vase. Also it does come in various colours .

Kebab sticks ( like the ones used with a chocolate fountain) would be best to use as they are more sturdy than a cocktail stick.

You could use small artificial flowers in between to keep some decoration once the guests have taken the chocolates.

For those that helped me, this is how my centrepiece turned out. What do you think?

Ok I admit ... I got my granny to make them ?

She has done 4 so far and it has taken her a week! Cruel aren't I!!!

They are about 18 inches high. I didn't want something that would block off the table for guests and really like things that are different. I hope everyone likes them though.
