Choosing a Make up Artist?!

Firstly email the ones whose portfolios you like. As then you will like their style of makeup.

Ask if they have your date free, what makeup brands they use, how the morning of the wedding will work for example with hair being done, makeup, getting into your dress. How you book your date in with them, any deposits required, when is the best time for the trial. Costs?

You will get a feel of the makeup artist with the emails you send back and forth, how helpful and friendly they are. As you need to feel comfortable with the artist as well as like their makeup.

I actually met up with my two shortlisted MUAs which really helped me decide. Just met them both for coffee and a chat. They were both lovely but meeting them in person definitely helped. One was very much about doing what you want which would have worked for a more confident bride. As I am utterly clueless about makeup I went with the MUA who was a bit bossier - she told me that if she got a bride asking for something that would look awful her strategy was to make half their face up in what they wanted and half in what she thought was better. She's never lost!
