Choosing Music

stella higgins, 9 June, 2010 at 05:20 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hello:-) can anyone help? I am having the hardest time trying to find suitable music to walk in and out of a civil ceremony to. The difficulty is trying to find something for walking down the isle that doesnt come across as cheesy or common. Again for the recessional piece Im trying to find something tasteful but uplifting that hasnt been heard at millions of weddings before mine. Im not looking for anything unique necessarily as I think I could be hunting forever but looking for advice on google seems to throw up the same numbers time and again.. any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Im with you...Im trying to find something for going into the church!! I was thinking "Wild mountain thyme" (aka go lassie, go"). But OH isnt a fan. Smiley sad Im actually thinking having it for coming into our evening do now! lol. I was also trawling the net and Im not thinking "Air on a G string" (even thought I hat the name! might put it on the order of service as "Air")

Coming out I think its "Highland Cathedral" and played on the pipes!

It depends on if you want something a bit traditional, Canon in D by pacabel (not sure on spelling!!) is a lovely piece and can be used for in or, although I think its perfect for going in. HOw about one day like this by Elbow for goingout, it has that lovely strings beginning and would be really nice for going out to.

Hope that helps, I love music so have pretty much thought about every possibility since I got engaged!!!?

    Hiya

This has been driving me mad too. Have a search on the net for the vitamin string quartet they do some really good covers of lots of songs in string. as i was stuck with wanting soething classical to walk in to but something modern for the signing this way i get the bets of both.

    Im having

    to walk in - Cannon

Signing of Register (the string versions) - the beatles all you need is love - sade your love is king - norah jones - come away with me

    Walk out - vivaldi spring

    hoep this helps

    Martyne x

It's such an important decision isn't it!

I'm walking in to songbird by eva cassidy, but also considered annie's song by john denver - don't know if you've heard that?

Was going to suggest Beatles all you need is love as recessional - but know you said you didn't want one that is used a lot - but my friends had it and it really was perfect!

Martyne I love come away with me by norah jones - such a lovely choice! We can't have cd's unfortunately in our church so are having a soloist sing one hand one heart (from west side story) and ave maria for our signing...but I actually wanted bloc party and the fratellis (slow ones though!) as they are 'our' songs.

There are so many different pieces of music or songs to pick. If it helps (or just so I can post it again) I'm walking down the aisle to wonderful world sung by Eva Cassidy & Kaite Melua http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFoXcO8llNI (I've just played it again - love it), after we'd decided on it the Louis armstrong version was played at my grandads funeral & that made it seem even more meant to be. I'm so gonna cry!! We're walking out to You're my best friend by Queen. Think we're having Iris - Goo Goo Dolls, Jack Johnson - better together & the plain white T's- 1234 for signing the register. Never heard the last 1 until I googled wedding music & I really love the song now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYp0GVzmLgY

Good luck with making your choices (it took us ages!!).
