CHRISTMAS!

HeidiHole, 18 September, 2008 at 10:54 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 94

There, I said it! Now people can stop worrying about being the first to mention it and skirting around the issue ?

Can I announce that Debenhams have Christmas decorations in the shape of shoes and they are sooo cute. No idea what shoes have to do with Christmas but they are sparkly and in the same colour as our living room decor so I will obviously be buying them in the hope mr jaz is inspired by them gift wise ?

I nned to be super organised this year as I'm going in for an operation on the 2nd December and will not be able to do anything for at least 4 weeks. So thinking about it this early is a good thing really, although I have no idea what I'm going to get the kids this year.

I am sooo excited thinking about it. We got married just before it last year and were on honeymoon - Xmas day was really weird away from home. Would it be too early to put our tree up now??

This confuses me too. I'm buying gifts and cards etc now to spread the cost but wouldn't consider buying 'Christmas Food' until much nearer the time. I don't know anyone who eats mince pies in September....

Mince Pies are year round - they have only added a picture of holly on the front to make it festive.

I can't wait for Christmas this year (which is quite surprising considering we're having both mothers over for the festive period)!! I've already bought wrapping paper and cards and some new decorations. I'm look for some gorgeous garlands this year. Because the flats going to be bursting with 4 people and a dog I can't have a very big tree this year so i'm going to wrap it up like a present instead. ?

I heart Christmas. But I'm not doing anything Christmas-related until October.

I love Christmas ? I'm not allowing myself to think about it too much until after my holiday ( 9 days, not that I'm counting) and then I'll be in full "looking forward to Christmas" mode.

I've actually been saving some money each month towards presents this year too, which should help enormously. I tend to get all my shopping done and cards written by the end of November as we go away for our Wedding Anniversay in the first week of December, which means I'm all festive when I get back and looking forward to it, rather than stressing about shopping mid-December.

Does the ? icon still work?

I've just been looking at photos from last year, do you think I could recreate this for our little living room?

I was saving really hard for christmas but now I have spent all the money on a car for myself, We can barely afford to eat for the next few months so there wont be many presents for anyone.

I do however have my dream car..Its all about me I tell you.

I could take everyone for a spin in it Christmas morning?Do you think that would be enough?

They were talking about it on the tellybox yesterday. We're mostly going to look forward to christmas and will enjoy it moreso this year as we need something to focus on. The economy is crumbling and have had such a pants summer, many of us not going on holiday. Christmas is something us brits can do and get right and as long as we don't go crazy with spending, it will be a great christmas. ?

Gah, that means only 14 weeks til I turn 29, that sucks.

But I love Christmas and December is going to be aces this year, first I'm going to New York with OH and will be doing our Christmas shopping out there, then two days after we get back I'm going to Amsterdam with my best pal. Then I'm back 9 days and it's Christmas! I think I'm working about four days in December, yesssss.

On the whole I think people all seem to be much more excited about Christmas already this year. As Mrs M said I do think it has a lot to do with the economy, people need something to look forward to.

I think this is the earliest I ahve ever got excited about it!

I cant wait for xmas either not that it will be happening much for us this year

i booked my holiday thinking we were landing back on the 22nd but then found out we are landing back on the 23rd so i wont be able to go buy veg and things as i have to come into work xmas eve

never mind mil has asked us there , or we may just have beans on toast at home depending on the jet lag

i have bought 15 xmas money cards this week and i am putting everythng ready by the end of the month so i can save spening money for the holiday and just buying stocking fillers for our kids

i am more excited about my holiday than xmas though tbh

The lunch conversations have started here too. My mum thinks it would be amazing to hire this bunk barn I went to on a hen do and have our family, my in laws and my brothers in laws all there together. The thought of it makes me feel a bit ill ?

I'm looking forward to Christmas this year. We have had our Christmas cards and wrapping paper for this year since January. We got it all in the sales and saved a fortune.

Will be having Christmas Lunch at my parents this year and then after this year we will be having Christmas Lunch either at home or out in a restaurant somewhere.

Not always easy - but so worth it! The first Christmas we were in out flat the MIL had been living with us for 5 months (only 6 months after we'd moved in together and about 2 weeks after we go engaged!!) and we told her that we wanted Christmas on our own and packed her off to her cousins.

We did this the first year we moved into our house. It is so worth it. Although H's Dad wasn't impressed and sulked for a couple of days beforehand and afterwards, but we really enjoyed spending time on our own.

Not really looking forward to Christmas this year ☹️, with H's impending op scheduled "sometime before Christmas" our original plans of traveling to France to see his folks are not happening (even if it doesnt happen, not having travel insurance will be a pig), so my lovely parents have invited them and us, all over to theirs. Which TBH, is great, and lovely of them, and lovely for my H. However, me, my siblings, partners and children (8/9), my sisters friend, grandparents (2), parents (2), and ILs (3) all in one house for the Christmas period, is strangely filling me with dread. That and the fact if H is post op, he will be unable to do anything, not even go for a walk to escape people!
